That's still a rumor but it could happen. I might get flamed for this but I hope Sony takes their time rebuilding PSN so that this type of thing doesn't happen again or it isn't as extreme in damage. I would rather they fix the problem and get it right then rush fixing it because the 75 million are demanding that they get it back up right now. That would be a mistake if Sony doesn't fix the problem or plug the holes shut.
Im hearing conflicting stuff between this board and the MKO board.
From what I gather, although the mainframe was hacked, the important info was encrypted and thus not useful to a hacker. Sony is recommending that we all change numbers and pass codes basically to cover their butts in case of a lawsuit. Reading between the lines this is how I personally interpret Sony's statements in that regard: "We dont think anything actually happened, however this scared the bejeezus out of us, so we are making it better for the future, o yeah and change your account stuff just in case, please dont file a class action against us."
I think it will ultimately yield a safer PSN but the improvements will be behind the scenes, and not readily obvious to the user unless its a little diferent interface or something to that effect (cosmetic changes).
Thats just what I think though, the whole thing is kinda shady.
