Good old Fallout 3 music.

Where's the good old Fallout 3 music?!

So.. we (whom played Fallout 3) all know about the iconic music from Fallout 3. I feel as if this music really made Fallout 3 even more unique then it already is, it was played in their release trailers and all throughout the game.

I admittedly was one of them people who listened to all the music on the game whilst playing it. The music (for me) which really set the tone for the game, gave it a great feel, made it feel more like a real apocalypse.. all new-age digital music was erased and some of the only music left was the old classics. This is also music i would only ever listen to on Fallout, it made the game somewhat more rememberable to me. The countless hours spent exploring the wasteland listening to "I don't want to set the world on fire" , Billie holiday's "Easy living" and so on. I know there's a lot of you out the who agree, we can't deny it , that music was/is awesome and you almost get a nostalgic feeling whenever you hear it.

I was quite surprised when i didn't hear any soundtracks in Fallout shelter, as the music was such an iconic thing in Fallout 3 i thought they would have implemented that, or some other soundtracks in this game. It's a shame that there isn't.

It would be awesome for Bethesda to release this music into this little mobile app, it would definitely make it more enjoyable, even though i could just load up youtube and listen to it from there, it's just not the same. I don't have a solid suggestion/idea on how this should be implemented, i was thinking along the lines of a new room like a music broadcasting room or something, a way that would give people a choice whether they'd want to listen to it or not. What do you guys think? Any suggestions/support/ideas?

I also understand that with the current issues a lot of people are having with this game that something like this would be far from the top of their priority list but it's a nice idea for some of us.

I can see where they might have excluded it for licensing purposes and because for single screen mobile games the music can become a little annoying after a while ... that said I do agree that the music was one of the best parts of FO3 and I periodically listen to Inon Zur's excellent soundtrack (as well as many of his others ... he is one of my favorite game composers after Jeremy Soule) ... the radio broadcasts from FO would just add cost so I don't see them adding those ... perhaps they could include a piece of the main FO3 soundtrack when you are reviewing your Wasteland explorers or have a specific sequence of music that plays during one of the disasters (rad roaches, raiders, fire)

Of course.. you're right, i never thought about that at all. It makes a whole lot of sense. I may be wrong here but i would think they already own the rights to use the music as they have it in Fallout 3? Maybe they only own the rights to use it in that one game.. That's a bummer! On the other hand, Bethesda is very wealthy company, i read a post here (May or may not be true, but i can see it being true) about Bethesda making $5.1 million in the first few weeks alone off this game.

As for the choice of music, i thought a new room would be effective, as i said some kind of music broadcasting room, that way people have a choice whether they'd like it in their game or not. Or even just a simple playlist option in the menu. OR.. as you said, just a little music to go with certain scenes or events, i dunno, i'm just rambling on now :ahhh:

Anyhow, thanks for your reply!

Well we'll see ... since the title seems to be making some money I would hope that they will continue to expand its capabilities up to the launch of FO4 (at which point I might be a little too distracted to focus on FOS) ... since they sell the soundtrack on iTunes for $11.99 they might not be as anxious to put all the tracks out there but maybe they could give us some teasers of the new FO4 soundtrack (also by Inon Zur :D ) ... personally I would love to see them expand the Wasteland portion of FOS and that would give them an opportunity to give us some musical tracks ... we'll just have to see what comes in the next update
