The only bears I've been running into lately are cave bears and snow bears which drop cave bear pelts and snow bear pelts respectively. Is there a good location to find plain old run-of-the-mill bears so I can get some plain old run-of-the-mill bear pelts?

Every general goods vendor I've gone to lately only sells the cave and snow varieties.

There is a cave bear cave by riften, as well with a ton of bears around Riften.

Pretty much....everywhere. Merchants also sell bear pelts.

There are two bear caves next to Ivarstead. One north on the west side of the river, one south near the crossroad. They each have bears inside and out so your odds are pretty good that one or two will be plain bears.

Oh yeah and Falkreath

Bears. Preferably dead ones.

All of the above suggested locations have been spawning cave bears or snow bears for me. Perhaps because I'm level 72 and the encounters are somewhat level dependent.

Has anyone else with high level characters had any luck finding the standard (not cave or snow) bears? I hope I'm not stuck running from merchant to merchant.

i used to be ASSASINATED by groups of bears and saber cats (they won a few times)but now that i need there pelts and teeth they decided to call in a cease fire.....
