Good places to find out about lore.

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and i guess even to the Fallout community. Ive played New Vegas through probably about five times by now, but i haven't played any of the original and I cant remember most of Fallout 3 because i only played it once. But going through the game now and even reading the little bit of lore i have from the wiki the game feels so much deeper. So I've got some questions for the Fallout Veterans. Whats the best way to find out about the lore? Just read through the wiki?
Where are some places in New Vegas that provide good info about events happening around then? What skills will i need to access them? (Science seems to be it, for hacking terminals)
And these last two are personal questions with no right answer, just curios.
What is your favourite piece of Fallout history? And why do you like the lore? For me i like the History of the Brotherhood of Steel. The origins, the rifts that happened causing splinter groups. And i like the lore because of the depth it gives the game, everything seems much more important and everything seems to have a story now.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline

The link above has a broad, informative perspective on Fallout events. However, in terms of lore after the bombs fell (even though there is info on that timeline), nothing will help you immerse yourself in lore more than actually playing the classic Fallout games.

My favorite piece of Fallout history is the few years prior to the Great War. Just reading about a society collapse on itself from desperation and normal life begin to wind down as the war is upon America is pretty neat.
