Goodunique items to pickpocket

Post » Mon Sep 16, 2013 7:58 pm

Hi, just wondering if there's a list somewhere of good and/or unique items to pickpocket? I've decided to perk this skill for the first time and I'm having good fun with it, and boy does it level fast! I've looked for some info but can't find anything about this.

I know that you can get a second Blade of Woe by pickpocketing it the first time you meet Astrid.

I know you can kill Briarhearts by removing their hearts - boy am I going to try this.

Any other cool items that can only be had through pickpocketting (or duplicated)?

Thanks.

Temple Priest Robes, only on Solstheim.

And the Glass Bow of the Stag Prince, also on Solstheim.

Not sure if it is unique, if you do not mind robbing the blind, Dexion has an Akaviri sword you can grab if you have the right perks. You cannot get that blindfold , sandals or robes right off his back though, although Braggen would have left him the robe.

My thieves have failed woefully at pickpocketing good unique stuff, the one who is an assassin in the end decided to just kill some poor Thane for her clothes. Seems no matter how many perks you have, you just cannot steal the clothes of everyone's back. If you could Elisif would be fairly cold standing around in her underwear, my thief who is an assassin has no shame and no morals.

The problem is that, for reasons I don't understand, you can't pickpocket the clothes off of Essential NPCs. It makes no sense to me (what does their Essential status have to do with their clothing?), but that's the way it is. It's why you can't get the unique version of the Hammerfell clothing that Nazir wears unless you destroy the Dark Brotherhood, as well. It would be nice if there was a mod that changed that, but I suspect that the reason is buried so far in the game's core files that modders won't be able to get at it. svcks, but that's life.

Because the "Perfect Touch" perk is designed to allow a character to obtain what would otherwise only be obtainable by combat -- in other words, combat wouldn't net you the items off an essential NPC, so neither will pickpocketing. You can still take their weapons, though.

Actually, it would be a very easy change to make, to allow the player to pickpocket worn items off essential NPCs.

While "Perfect Touch" won't get you anything unique, per se, you can obtain a number of rare clothing items that otherwise could only be obtained by murdering NPCs. In addition, many NPCs carry enchanted items which can help if you like to enchant things yourself, and gems, which can help in making jewelry for smithing experience, or for quests.

You can also pickpocket the weapons off NPCs you know you'll have to fight later.
