When getting everyone into a group, there doesn't seem to be any mic functionality. If this is by design, I think it's a weakness because the pre-game chat is a good time to talk about which game mode to play as a group.

But what's even more odd is that if you're group leader backs you out in between sessions, the entire group is backed out (which is nice) and now the mic communication works perfectly! It's really odd!?

I'd prefer it just worked all the time so my clan and I can chat about which game to play, which suit unlocks we're using, etc. THEN jump in and play...

Yeah i noticed that last night, at first i thought it was my Turtle Beaches but then i read here and saw that there are others with the same issues.
