Google and Youtube...

Post » Tue Nov 23, 2010 7:02 am

Ok.... so im sure plenty of you have seen this new, dumb message on youtube saying, "You will no longer be able to sign into youtube without a google account"

Now... I don't know about you all, but I am sure as hell tired of Google putting it's [censored] face into my business. So yeah.. I could take a couple minutes out of my time and make the account, hell I probably already have one since I use Gmail.. but I don't freaking need Google sending me adds every [censored] day.

So, what are your thoughts on this new.... 'feature'?

- Don't go on Youtube often

- Already have a google account, and it's my Youtube account too

Only those who created an account pre-2009 even had a choice to not use their Google Account.

You do email through Google, what exactly are you worried about coming out of making a Google account. As for me I linked my old Youtube account and Google account together a while ago.

Its annoying as hell, yes I had to make an account, but my youtube one was fine, google is getting envolved with things it shouldnt be envolved in. My account was pre google purchase of youtube, my account was fine and it made me hate google, if I wanted a google account I would have one already. Dont [censored] push me.

I noticed it about a week or so, before it was optional, now its mandatory, that pisses me off.

Same here. My hotmail account wasn't good enough. I am just curious as to why. Did Google buy out Youtube or something?

I guess Google just wants to steamline everything into thier own realm then. I get it now, thanks. :goodjob:

Google owns youtube. It makes sense for them to do this. Not like it's a tedious task to link two accounts.

I mostly just laughed at the remainder of the message which essentially said, "If you don't want to do this, you can go right ahead and sign yourself out."

Ha, just ran into this today when I tried to watch a video that required me to login. Thankfully my email address worked fine, otherwise I would have been forced to create a Google account. I really don't understand the purpose of making people do this though. It's only making Youtube less accessible, which is the complete opposite of what Youtube's success was based on. There were plenty of stupid videos on the internet before Youtube, the only thing it did was streamline the presentation and make it easy to watch/upload new videos.

Very annoyed, since not only do I have have no Google account, but on signing up for one they ask for my mobile phone number. Now I can't access my account and all the videos I uploaded, unless I give them my number to make a Google account, which I am very wary of doing.. might actually give them the number of an old SIM card that I don't use anymore. Or is there any way around this?? :stare:

Could always give them the police departments number... hehe... now that would be pretty fun.

Nah, don't do that.

Imo, Google is the Nazi-Germany of the Internet. It expands quickly and it doesn't make anything better. In fact, Google makes things even worse. Ever since Google bough YouTube, problems started. They made changes to almost everything, whether you liked it or not. They never asked you anything, but when they did, they asked your opinion on some new feature. Your opinion didn't really matter, because they would change it anyways.
Ladies and gentlemen, we need to get rid of Google. For the sake of YouTube and the Interwebs.

When I sign in it says "sign in with your Google account OR Youtube account"

My Youtube login works just fine. Is this starting in America or what? I do remember a while ago Youtube tried to force me to link my Youtube and Google accounts, but I just didn't sign in for a while and eventually it stopped. I assumed that people had kicked up enough of a fuss for it to stop.

Why does everyone think there's some sort of global conspiracy where if you make an account with google or facebook that company will own your soul forever?

Practically everyone has a google account, and if you don't there are plenty of reasons to get one.

No, I'm getting it too. I get the "Google OR Youtube" message on the first login page, but once i log in it insists I either link it to a google account or sign out.
