Google News Updates

Post » Fri Dec 17, 2010 2:06 am

(Insert this in the description above)

So if I may... I've found Googles New feature freakin awesome on keeping me posted on Skyrim updates. I'm only suggesting this as it's REALLY helped me, and may help one or two others. If you arn't familiar with it, in your google account (if you have one) you can select to receive automatic news updates for the key word "Skyrim". Man it's awesome to be sitting bored at work and hear my cell phone ping and there I have it, the very latest breaking Skyrim news in my hand. Sure it means you potentially receive updates from every online source, but google alleviates his by somewhat effectively bunching common content together and summarizing it in a single email (your in box can still get a little bombarded though). All in all I highly recommend this for anyone who literally holds their breath for the next news. Oh, and it's not too bad having multiple sources for the info cause I find that each provides a slightly different perspective.

Disclaimer: I don't work for google.

Why on earth would you not be allowed to share information that is publically available to people? lol

I personally use Google Reader to follow the RSS feeds of official and fan blogs, major gaming sites, developer sites, etc.

They are worried they will be accused of being a google advertising drone.

Or you can just follow the forum. Not only will everything get posted here, every single morsel of info will get dissected. Every last drop squeezed out. This is the place to be.

^this. Not only do we discuss the new stuff, but we discuss how it could get implemented, and what other things will be affected, and you get different points of view on the matter

The forum is the place to be. When i want to come here i just type "s" in my address bar and press enter. thats just as fast as how "google" can give me info.

No they aren't.

Then why did they put in a disclaimer saying "I don't work for google"?

Oh you meant the OP? I thought you were talking about Bethesda. But then my question remains unanswered, why does the OP think that he's not allowed to share publically available information? Him putting up a disclaimer isn't a reason, it's a consequence.

The Forum is the only place you'll need to go because it's a hub for information. People will see something like "Hey IGN just did an interview with Todd Howard and he mentioned that carriages were in the game" and post it on the forum.

Because it seems that "they" (because I must have MPD) are wanting to respect the forum, while attempting to help anyone interested. AND I fully agree with Ya'll that the forum is THE BEST place for discussion and discovery, yet I maintain that it rocks to receive the official updates as they happen, and then jump on our beloved forum to share all ASAP. I see it as a tool to feed into the forum, especially for newbies who may like to have more resources at their disposal when they are wanting to contribute to discussions.

So basically you should hear a ping from this message because:

New Skyrim.

Why don't I quite get it?
