Gore Level

:mage:

You know, I want this game to be advlt in any meaning possible, so it should not be dumbed down like the current trend of TES games.

TESII targeted more advlt players than TES III and it targeted more advlt players than TES IV, concerning the body parts shown, witty and advlt story references, complexity of puzzles to be solved, and hand holding of the game mechanism.

But the amount of gore is increasing in each iteration, and I do not know how to interpret this trend in the current TES games.

If they are targeting younger players and should show less skins and make less complex game mechanisms, then why provide more gory scenes, but if they want to show more gore for advlt players, then why dumbing down in other sides of the games?

I hope they fully target this monster slaying game for the full advlts, regarding all the facts of life, and death, but cut the excessive gore, and add to advlt stories and complex problems to be solved, and provide less hand holding in the game mechanism, and let us do the hard work to gain more satisfaction, when a problem is solved.

^This definitely. Realistic combat, brutal and unforgiving. Normally I would be pessimistic about this type of thing, but I actually think Todd Howard is pushing the combat in this direction. It's the feeling I get after reading the Game Informer article multiple times.

I think it would be interesting and I also think that Todd Howard will go in a brilliant direction with it.

All this outrage against pixelated 'unwholesomeness"

What is basically a cartoon does in no way make kids grow up 'bad'. Kids know its a fairytale.
Kinda horrid things happen in real fairytales to the good guys at first, but the bad guys in the end.
To kids, the first bit is scary, but they revel at the bit where the witch gets shoved in the oven. They eat that stuff up.
Kids quite enjoy cruel things happening to the deserving. and sometimes the undeserving, you never know with some kids.
As long as its a story a make belief and has a moral.

The point here is that the 8 pm news is a whole lot more unwholesome than an allegory with a lesson to be learned from it.

Dude you fail. . . Go back a page and read the comments in there entirety then develop an oppion. I have no problem with realism in fact I am one of it's biggest advocates and there are three definitions for immaturity. god some people.

First of all, wow... this coming from a guy who, a few posts later, said to someone, "Don't try and make this a personal thing, if you start flaming people I will report you." And that was simply in response to a relatively innocent sarcastic remark. According to your standards, I should be enraged that I've just been told I "fail".

But alas, I have read your other post. I just don't entirely agree with your interpretation of "maturity", not even with regard to the definition that refers to a person's development. Now, that's not to say I understand what it's like to be overly sensitive to violence -- I don't, really. I think it's a bit silly to allow one's self to be disturbed by a fake portrayal of gore. But at the same time, it's not exactly an integral part of human development; a person doesn't have to be exposed to violence, and develop a tolerance to it's natural psychological effects, in order to grow up into a fully functioning advlt. Therefore, maturity isn't really the issue, in any sense.

God, some people... ;)

Roughly the same as Oblivion, maybe a touch more gore. Not really an issue with me.

The 10 people who voted for Hello Kitty style are either wannabe outsiders or just plain handicapped and should be banned of these forums :P

personally as long as there's some gore, i'll be happy.

Let's get it proportional! Oblivion was a little too light-hearted for me but Fallout wanted everything to turn into a bloody crisp. The golden middle way my friend ;)

Dismemberment is fine, if it looks good, and isn't over the top.

But I'm quite fine with a fair amount of blood, as long as it's better then Morrowind.

Give me the option to turn off gore on the option screen like in Oblivion. You can even call it Hello Kitty level.

- Isn't there already a thread very similar to this?
- Yes, but they did not have a hello kitty choice.
