Gore level in the next Elder scrolls game

It would probably be system exhaustive, but I would like to see arrows that stay. As an archer, I always found it funny that the arrows disappeared, or were only partially retrievable. Oblivion was nice in that they stayed for a bit, and you could put one in a fallen corpse as a "take that svckbutt!" For fleshless creatures, it was excellent how the arrow caused the skeletons to brake apart, and the arrow was retrievable.

But if we came across an old battleground or a failed raid and there were arrows in the corpses, it would be neat to retrieve them and add them to our characters. Also, if there were wounded that were arrow shot, we had the ability to remove the arrow and heal them. Just for those personality or fame points.

Fire and frost effects that stay, like a duration fire spell. Keep the flaming, well, flaming until cindered. Shatter frost would be interesting. Freeze an opponent or creature and then hit them with a sword or mace to shatter the pieces.

The deer hunting in Oblivion was nicely done, and many times I thought I was playing one of those Cabela sports games. Just make it so that we can harvest the skin and antlers too, instead of just the venison.

I like your ideas. As for the arrow thing, it could make role-playing a healer, paladin, or saint better, since that would make actually healing people possible.

It's not high on my wish list for TESV, but I wouldn't be against more gore, either. If there is to be more gore, it should be in order to make the game realistic, not just gore for the sake of gore (à la FO3).

^^ Same. I don't relish blood and guts and brains, but little red splashes do kill the vibe, along with the lack of any real damage hitting -- chest == foot damage.

In Australia our rating board is ..... fluffed up to say the least and we don't have an R-18 rating. I'm 16, but the level of some MA-15+ (eg. ESRB M-17) is too much. Our Board also turns away anything with disembodiment, so I hope there is no limb-cutting in TESV or we won't be allowed to play. :(

I would prefer people bleeding a bit, especially localized damage, rewarding players for an arrow through the eye, or a stab to the hear, but I wont play if every few seconds someone's arm is getting chopped off.

Unless of course its done in good humour, like the Monty Python skit with the Knight of the Black Forest. Hilarious.

I'd like a realistic amount of blood. If I stab someone, I'd like blood to spill on the floor. But, I don't want people to explode every time I punch them, either. Perhaps some kind of slider?

Agreed with the slider. I loved Fallout 3's gore, but I don't think many other people would like that in TES:V

Blood splatter on the screen in first person view would be nice too

I am all for more gore but I'd like it to be a "realistic" level of gore. (That is, not like Fallout 3.) I don't want to shoot an arrow at a bandit's chest and his entire body explodes. On the other hand, if I make a well-placed axe blow to the neck, I would not be opposed to decapitation...unrealistic as even that may be.

This is a case of "less is more" imho as having body parts/entrails/blood flying everywhere all the time everytime you take a swing with any kind of weapon isn't a mature theme, in fact it's most decidedly immature.

I like it, but more realistic than Fallout's, please. You're not going to cut off someone's leg (Through their FEMUR BONE for god's sake) with a simple sword slice.

I don't really care if there's none at all, as long as there's not too much

This.

Fallout 3s was comical, and it didn't bother me. But it really isn't necessary. TES is MUCH more serious then Fallout, there is no need to look unrealistic.
Edit: I was refering to Al Gore level.

I wouldn't mind Beheadings, but Deadly reflex let you cut people in half and that was a bit over the top.

Give us more blood and gore!! Though a slider for gore/blood levels would be cool to, for people who aren't into that sort of stuff.

Fallout 3 gore without bloody mess.

And without making people's heads explode with lead pipes.

I thought Oblivion's gore level was good, Oblivion isn't really about the gore and killing for most people.

We definitely need more gore, everyone seems to agree on this one for once.

I would like more gore but only if it is highly realistic and not complete overkill. Also it should be toggle-able some people may not want more blood. I also want to toggle it because my little brother wants to watch me play and i want to turn the gore off when he wants to watch me play.

They should have a gore-meter or something, so you can adjust the levels of gore. That would probably satisfy everyone.

I know I definitely don't want Fallout level gore.

Indeed. Fallout 3's gore was.... Flimsy?

I didn't feel like the dismemberment had enough of a sledgehammer effect on your enemies. You just shot someone in the leg and POP, there it goes like a BB through wet newspaper. If there is to be real-time gore in TES, it needs to happen through something like an axe to the neck or a warhammer on the top of the head of an enemy that is reeling from your good block. I don't want to slash someone's arm with a dagger and have it come off.

Yeah, I want more visceral combat, but not much more gore really. By that I mean I would love to have blade-strikes have more of an impact and feel, like slowing down as they dig into flesh and blood drips down onto the floor from a visible wound caused by your attack and said wound will remain until the character heals, but I don't want to have characters just swing a large axe and then legs and arms start flying off.

Oblivion's level of gore was just fine, though I think the addition of blood pools is needed.

The usual scarring from hacks and slashes with the ability to dismember a corpse. With the ability to make a person explode only with spells or... Artillery.
