Gore?

Post » Tue Apr 20, 2010 3:35 pm

I was wondering will there be genuine gore in combat in skyrim? I find it funny I can slash someones throat with a giant claymore on oblivion and noones head comes off like in other Bethesda games like fallout 3

That'd be nice, but it wouldn't make or break anything for me. It's not something I feel really adds to a game, unless there's bombs and guns.

Elder Scrolls isn't Fallout 3.
More blood in Skyrim is something I want, but not extreme gore like in Fallout 3.

Yes, but don't over-do it like in fallout. I don't want to punch a guy and have his leg and arm fall off.

Gears of war did better at gore than Fallout 3 IMO.
I don't care if there is gore or not.

I just want true decapitation when I Cleve for someone head with a giant axe and or claymore or a legs removed and them writhing about in agony like they REALLY would be . . More realism is what I'm going for . . Like slash someones throat and it lays open with a dagger or a complete limb removal with a claymore and arrows leave a bloody hole when u pull it out and retrieve ur arrows

I agree with scorch . . I don't want my little dagger removing a leg or arm just deep gashed bleeding wounds like it really would be not just generic blood on skin patterns like in oblivion

If I shot a Goblin with an arrow in the OB tutorial dungeon, or stabbed it with an iron dagger, the body somehow went airborne and splatted up against a wall. That may not have been "gore", but the violence was absurdly and hilariously overdone. Oddly, hacking away at that same goblin with a Daedric Claymore at a higher level wouldn't do a whole lot. "Can I get my old iron dagger back? That used to work fine against Goblins." It was a bit odd how the bodies showed no sign of violence, other than being bent and twisted into bizarre shapes, after the weird shifting "blood decals" had moved on or faded away.

In FO3, shooting somebody with a single BB from ambush would cause body parts to fly off, and turn the corpse into a mutilated and bloody stump. If that's your idea of "realism", then I'd like less of it, please, and more "believable" damage: a distorted and bloody red spot where the bullet hit, that doesn't drift around while you watch, or fade away after 60 seconds.

I'd like more gore. I don't want "FO3" style, where everyone's body magically comes in 5 parts.

I'm tired of seeing my sword go through people in games. If it goes through someone, that means they're dead. Until they're dead, I'd like it to just clang off their armor, when it does kill them, it can slice them open, cut things off (about 10x as precisely as in FO3), or impale them gruesomely. I'd also like armor and bone to get crushed by blunt weapons.

YES - something like this must be in. Decapitations, limb stuff, etc... Showers of blood - this is Skyrim (I mean it).

As long as it makes sense.

No "I shot him in the leg with an arrow....and his arm came off too...."

I don't want it to be realistic in the way they react though, I'm not looking for the sadists favorite simulation, here.

i dont want to see to much full dismemberment like there was in fallout, but if they handled gore like how it was done in Red Dead Redemption that'd be awesome. Basically what it did was just leave rather visceral marks wherever the person was hit. It'd be cool seeing armour get dented and flesh severed. However i think full dismemberment will be a little silly, and as a result make the combat feel less real.

Gore is part of the Fallout atmosphere and so it makes sense to be overdone but I don't want extreme gore in TES V, however I hope you will able to chop limbs, crush bones and burn or freeze bodies (using spells obviously).

Gore is not what this game is about for me, so I could care less. But I don't want to turn it into a Disney either...
