Gore

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 2:46 am

I hate to bring up the I word but I feel more comfortable in a game where the gore is where it is needed. A killing Power Swing at the head causes decapitation, fire causes burn marks, ice makes things break, etc.

I don't particularly want it. It Isn't necessary to make a good game.

I'll be fine if they kept it at Oblivions level. Though a tad more couldn't hurt, such as having visible gashes or cuts, with blood seeping out. Or a limb fall off with the final blow, such as an arm fly off with an arrow strike.

I don't want excessive gore (i.e. every kill with a sword results in the person exploding a la Bloody Mess) but having dismemberment and a reasonable amount of blood is perfectly acceptable.

This, pretty much.

Although I wouldn't mind have few 'interesting' effects for the spells, e.g. being able to freeze and then shatter someone.

Realistic gore, yes. IE: No bloody explosions from an arrow to the foot.

I would like to see more gore... who doesn't like explosions... bloody explosion when a sword hacks through someones head. On a more serious note, I would prefer Beth to spend more time on spending there frame rate usage on better overall graphics rather than fancy/bloody particle effects, or spending more time on making the world bigger and adding more game play. But hey if they have the time to make the game gruesome and gory then go for it!

It looks like this is going to be a darker elder scrolls game, so I think it has a good chance of being in.

I want realistic gore, dismemberment and decapitations, etc. And a much more mature and darker setting.

Pretty much this. I don't want anything excessive like Bloody Mess.

I am not looking forward to seeing Fallout 3 style gore in the game. If you cut someone's arm off that should be because of a critical hit on their arm, and it would not kill them right away.

I don't need any dismemberments or blood-explosions: that's Fallout's territory. If I happen to be able to slice limbs off with my swords, all right, but you won't see me shedding a tear if it's not an option.

I'd love to see some amputees running around Skyrim.

I want to be able to crash my opponents legs when they try to run away from my Orc warrior or cut of my opponents sword arm in close combat with a short blade with my wood elf assassin. So yes, flying body parts, but no-not a pistol shot in the head causing th head to explode and an eye flying towards your screen.

But maybe even cut my opponent in half with a forward power attack from a claymore/huge axe?

On par with previous TES-games. Something not too unrealistically clean, yet not getting in visual way either.

yeah, this person has a point. Few mature inside-the-game jokes are always fun to find, like that Hlaalu Uncle in Morrowind, or the strip dancers in the middle of the plains. But I do not think graphical violence is a key to anything in story-telling-wise, and I'd turn that off on my gameplay.

Having kids in the game is always an issue, if you can kill a minor in the game it always gives it the M-rating and I'm not sure Bethesda wants that. I'm not sure I agree with them in this issue, though.

I really really hope you can impale and stab people in Skyrim.

It really puts a downer on stealth gameplay when you sneak up on someone behind their back and all you can do is wail your dagger like a little kid.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas have children. I hope they add them to Skyrim.

ONLY if it is implemented realistically. I don't want to see a bandit's arm come clean off after I kill him with a warhammer. I think the gratuitous gore was fine in Fallout 3, but I don't want to see it the an Elder Scrolls game.

I agree on the not to over the top, but when I hit somebody with a warhammer I want his whole body to explode in a bloody gory mess. And not have him fall down to the ground with an: "Ohhhh". And I agree 100 % on the stealth thing that somebody mentioned. If I'm an assasin walking around shanking people with the deadliest dagger in the whole of cyrodil then I want people to die in one finishing move. And not wail away at him like some idiot. Maybe they could add something that you can assasinate sleeping people if your sneak skills is high enough, and you will just plant a dagger in their neck no trouble?

i have heard that it accually is illegal to be able to kill children in games, meaning it is not allowed to be included in the game. Not sure here though, I've only heard this from my friend. Quite possible that i'm talking rubbish here, so correct me if i'm wrong.

Well, there was a child killer perk in Fallout 2

I wouldn't call it a perk and F2 is a decade old. New laws have been passed so it's perfectly possible

Personally, I am good with the blood and gore that was in Oblivion. But I don't mind if they put a bit more.
