What job?

If it is a nice job. Why aren't you wearing sleeves?

If it's a job where wearing no sleeves is okay. Why do they care?

I have a full body tatttoo that is pretty much permanent woad, no one ever sees it.

The vast majority of employers will not hire people with visible tattoos (and piercings) if they have any public interaction at all. The armed forces, the police and I would imagine any modelling agencies have strict policies on tattoos. I was pointing out that the persons claim was false and im right in doing so.

Also the generalization that a "nice" job requires sleeves is pretty ignorant.

Are you one of those guys who act like they would care about having a tattoo when they are 80? Do you really care what you will look like when you are 80? I would be more concerned about trying to remember my teen and advlt years then caring about what is tattoo'd on my skin

Yay! Copyright infringement! And it's embedded into your skin! It'll be like The Merchant Of Venice for the 21st century!

The whole concept of jobs denying people for having tattoos is ridiculous , especially because I see REALLY fat/ugly/old/weird people working (Namely at places like walmart but you know).... they themself aren't denied jobs for being ugly as hell but then for instance an attractive person could be denied a job because they have tattoos? WTF?

Thats messed up

If it was not for the fact that I'd probably be forced to wear long sleeves every day of my life at a potential job/career in the future , then I would definately consider getting tattoo sleeves cause I love how they look

Ironicly , I'm tattoo free , and good looking and yet all of my attempts at getting jobs have been utter failure (I'm only 22 so we're talking about stupid jobs like stores/restaraunts) BUT you know , it still makes no sense. Then it pisses me off when I (and this happens alot) see a person appearing to be 300+ pounds and/or 60+ years old and/or just plain ugly as hell working cash registers and I'm like "Now HOW IN THE HELL did they pick someone like that over someone like me?"

Some of you people are real idiots. He didn't ruin his future. If he wears a longsleeve shirt, problem solved. People who don't have tattoos crack me up sometimes. They say it will hurt job chances. Well, it's already been made obvious by me and some other people why that's not true. They also say you've got to think about what it will be like when you're older. When I'm 70, I'm not going to care about it. Hell, I hope it scares some kids.

I'm 22 as well, i know what you mean. its all about How you talk and get to the point. Be honest be yourself, tell them you're going to work as hard as you can even for entry level. articulation and confidence are key :D sounds horrible (no pun intended) but you have to sell yourself to the manager. I started in retail

Maybe they were hired before you. Maybe they're one of those weird employers who don't hire based on looks (sarcasm). Or maybe you're not as good looking as you thought.

Cool tat, it actually looks pretty good and you got it for free too. They can now make a movie about you called 'The Guy with the Dragon Tattoo'.

That would make your entire life awkward. Having to live 24/7 with the person who fired you. It would be weird if you kicked the guys ass too.

Yeah , alot of my job searching has been in small bursts throughout the years but mostly when I was like 16 ish , and 19ish honestly after trying really hard at like age 19 and getting nothing but 1 failed interview and have more or less since given up for several years. Between the past failures to get even the crappiest of jobs despite a great deal of effort , and hearing all the time how the US economy is in a toilet I have been very (understandably) discouraged from trying to get jobs.

You say be honest and be yourself , good idea I had been thinking myself cause alot of the times when I tried in the past I was trying to be who I THOUGHT they wanted to see and telling them what I THOUGHT they wanted to hear.... which apparently did no good and I got nothing to lose by being real with the people in future attempts

Maybe they were hired before you. Maybe they're one of those weird employers who don't hire based on looks (sarcasm). Or maybe you're not as good looking as you thought.

What my brother always tells me when I go on a rant about it is that those people are basically losers (He doesn't actually call them losers , I'm putting this in my own words) who have no aspirations of anything greater and are there because yes they were hired before me and they have just been there for years and years and dead-end jobs like walmart and wendys LIKE having those kind of losers who won't leave them to look for more new hirings

Wow, that is quite.. shallow.
Maybe they hired people who had better qualifications?
Not everything is about looks, you know.

And about people working behind a cash register for forty years, laud them, dont berate them.
What kind of society looks down on people who do a useful and neccesary job?
How is that lazy and no ambition?
As if every person who ever lived can become ceo or work at Bethesda or be a supreme court judge and that.

wonder how your gonna explain that to girls? :S

How do you explain tribals? Or japanese style dragons?

I would never get a TES tattoo personally but if someone else wants to do that, why not?
I'd rather have that symbol on me than a lot of popular motives people get. Also why would girls (who you generalize so well) think it's stupid? That's pretty prejudiced of you.

Um, what? I think you quoted the wrong post. I didn't say anything about people being qualified or being hired for their looks.
