Got A Few Questions

Post » Sat Nov 20, 2010 8:38 pm

1. Will walking over a mine be an instakill/incap?

2. How many passive abilities will you be able have on at once

3. Are you allowed more than one universal ability at a time?

4. I have heard there are 10 character slots, will each one need to be leveled up individually to 20? Or will it be like I have a level 20 character with all types of abilites, but now I am starting a new character can I use those abilities over there.

Thanks a lot!

1. It's not until after you walk off the mine that it explodes and incaps you
2. As many has you bought. You can only use 3 agressive ones per class (which are the class specific like molotovs)
3. 10 characters, leveled up individually to max level 20, each has a max of 20 abilities you can buy out of 58 total abilities.....

1. No there will no OHK weapons
2. Hasn't been revealed as of yet. (to all my knowledge)
3. Most likely, you'd just have to sacrifice class abilities to do so.
4. The character slots are for clothing, abilities will be tied to kit/class.

1. No, you must step off the Mine for it to blow. You can stand still on it and wait for a Engineer to come by and disarm it, though. No insta kill.

2. As many as you buy, I believe. However, offensive ones are limited to 3.

3. Yes.

4. Yes, you level each one to 20. I believe cosmetic items such as clothing carry over, but other then that, you must buy new abilities on that class.

1. No, but it will do damage and cause knock down (different from incap, you choose when you want to get up and can still aim and fire)
2. You can have as many passive abilities as you want, however class specific passive abilities will only be active while you are that class
3. You can have all universal abilities if you wanted to, there is no limit to how many you can have, only limit is your max ability points
4. You cannot bring abilities over to different characters, but you can use all of the attachments/ clothing that you have unlocked.

Hope that anwers your question! Just ask if I didn't or you are still confused about something

1. Not entirely sure. The devs have said that "mines are the closest thing to an instakill in Brink." (paraphrasing) Make of that what you will.

2. No limit on passives. I have heard that there might be a limit to how many abilities you can take per class, but I don't think that was ever confirmed.

3. Yes.

4. Each character will have to be leveled up separately. There used to be a method where you could transfer XP from one character to another, but that feature didn't make the final cut.

5. I seem to have been beaten to the punch. No matter, it is of little consequence.

Wow! Thanks a lot guys.

Also another confusing thing I noticed in vids is when you change classes at a command post, are you changing to like a default version of that class or what?

Well, yes and no. If you have put some of your ability points into that class as well then no, you can use any of the abilities that you purchased (so long as they are passive, buffs, or you have assigned them) but if you havent put any ability points in that class, than yes, you will only be able to do the basic things (complete objectives, buff, or disguise as operative)

You are changing to your character's version of that class. You can buy whatever skills you want, they just won't activate unless you are the proper class. So if you have a character with 5 Medic skills, 5 Soldier skills, and 10 Universal skills, you'll have your Soldier and Universal skills active while a Soldier, and you'll have your Medic skills + Universals if you switch to Medic.

So yes, if you don't have any abilities in a certain class, you would be switching to the default version of that class. You would still have that class's basic abilities though, and be able to complete their objectives.

You change to the class created by whatever abilties you have. If you change to, say, Engineer, but didn't buy any abilties, you still have the default Standard Engineer Kit, so you will have Mines, Defusing, Weapon Buffing, all that stuff right off the bat.

So does every class have 3 active abilities, or do some have more forcing you to choose?

Three equipment active abilities, if I'm correct. You can have as many active abilities as you want, so long as you have the points, Rank, and equipment slots necessary.

So in short the only thing that does not really transfer between individual characters would be the abilities, including the universal one right? This seems pretty straight forward and I LOVE the idea. Great stuff. Also, will I be able to switch actual characters between matches to better suit my opponents, are am I stuck with the character chosen at the set up until I exit the set?

You are stuck with whatever character you chose before entering the match. You can change classes and weapons at command posts, but not bodytype or characters.

Fairly certain there will be more than 3 active abilities.

You can swap which actives you'll have equipped on each class between missions, but once you're in-game, you're stuck with what you chose, so if you have 5 Engineer actives, make sure you pick the 3 best-suited to the mission you're going to play.
