Got a "good guy" character, what would be a good rea

I know this is my character and I'm supposed to decide what is right/wrong, I'd just like some insight or suggestions.

A Redoran stole something from his family, and now he's trying to get it back?

He's a Redguard with a semi-tribal, very proud background but is at the same time relatively cultured. I'm thinking maybe he joins House Redoran and like for some kind of extra great quest success or some kind of great service they give him access to the vault.

The redoran pushed him to the edge and the only way for him to become sane again is to steal everything in the redoran vault.

You stumble out of the Eight Plates after a night of drinking and into a dank alley. As you expel chunks of the Guar steak you had earlier in the evening you are suddenly overtaken by a hauntingly beautiful voice. A powerful enchantress has put you under her spell! As the weeks go by you spend your time performing various tasks for her--your most recent one being to use your influence to gain access to the Redoran Vault and to obtain as much of the treasure as you can. You spend the rest of your life as her six slave. The End.

If you really did have a "good guy", you wouldn't be trying to get him into the Vaults.

A good reason to get a "good guy" into the Redoran Vault would be for him to deposit valuables there.

He lost a bet and now he owes a Orc a full set of Ebony armour.

First.... why are you trying to get in the vault in the first place?

A sacred family heirloom was stolen by a Redoran nobleman and placed in the vaults.

If you really did have a "good guy", you wouldn't be trying to get him into the Vaults.

Not true. There are plenty of logical reasons the OP could use to legitimize it.

how do you figure that? I haven't read or heard from an NPC or otherwise that the Redoran vault is completely off limits to House Redoran members/retainers. I thought it might be an interesting RP/story element as well as an opportunity to score some choice gear for free.

Redoran leadership has some less than noble members... Archmaster Bolvyn Venim is rumored to be an advlterer (and kidnapped another councilor's son) and Gandosa Arobar has a copy of "Boethiah's Pillow Book".

Perhaps your character feels the upper echelon of Redoran does not deserve their riches and loots the vaults in order to donate the items to the poor or the Temple.

Stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, isn't that something a good guy could do? And aren't you kind of poor? :)

While all of my characters are inherently good, they are also heavy drinkers. Whenever I want to do something questionable, I figure a night of heavy drinking helps me justify my actions.

Kind of like real life, come to think of it. ^_^
