So I made it into Stormwend but now i have no idea where to go. After the arena battle (before you are allowed into Stormwend) I was given my reward form Mercius, or whatever his name is. Upon entering Stormwend, I was told to go somewhere in the barracks (in Stormwend) and talk to someone for something. Does anyone remember where?

where did you DL the mod from? will it run on a low end laptop?

For the German version mainquest to continue, you should visit the Thieves' Guild in the south-western(?) corner of Stormwend.
Alas, I have no idea what you should do in the English version, but maybe it's similar (they've changed a lot, but not every single quest).

Going to the barracks starts a faction questline, independent of the mainquest.

Yeah, I just finished the English version a few weeks ago, if you want to continue the main quest then join the thieves guild which will lead into a bigger story later on.

He was telling you that you could join the city guard, which is a faction. However, it is not required and you can do those quests at any point in the game.

Yeah the main quest failed really bad at that point IMO. Most people who aren't hardcoe into Morrowind seem to get lost there as well and just say "hell with it" and quit. Not to say the game isn't fun, I enjoyed it.

Yeah, I ended up doing all the other factions at that point before I joined the city guard. I had to look online(using Google to translate German) to figure out that the thieves guild was part of the MQ

Where is that guide at?

The Thieves guild is in the southwest part of Stormwend and one member will be standing outside of it (I think he is wearing a hood and cape), he will send you on a 'test' quest in order to test your skills.
The city guard is in the northernmost part of Stormwend and just west of the harbor, IIRC you have to talk to the guy in all-black armor.
The can join the Order as well, I think you just have to talk to one of those priests around or inside the cathedral.
You can also join the Hunter's Guild, they are located quite away east from Stormwend, but west of Nembrest.
