Post » Wed Sep 29, 2010 1:27 pm

I paid a visit to a friend at gamestop and picked up a strategy guide a lil early,( total impulse by and basically 20 bucks wasted), but it does have detail descriptions of all skills and gun damage...anyone want to know anything specific?

Uhhh...YES! How many pistols are there, are there any revolvers, and can you give stats for one or two? Also, what is the damage bonus that the engineer gives?

Dude, I can answer this. 7 pistols, 5 already in-game, 2 pre-order pistols.
3 Semi-automatics
2 Revolvers
2 Machine pistols
Engineer can buff your gun to about 15%-20%. it lasts until you die

Can Operatives see through enemy Operatives' disguises?

I want to second this, because I haven't seen a clear confirmation from anyone I trust (only source that said "only the person who was used for disguise" that I know of is a fairly early build played by one of the IGN guys).

Awesome, thanks. Any stats for the revolvers? Is the engineer boost variable?

I can answer the Operatives vs Operatives question and the abilities list request. :)

That link is all the abilities, or click the arrow on the quote to see the full quote, which has them written out here in the forum, which may be more easily readable. Up to you, but they're all there! :D

Also, one of the Operative's abilities, Homing Beacon, can be used to spot enemy Operatives by iron sighting in on them. So my take is that you can aim at a suspicious acting teammate to check.

Homing Beacon (Rank 2):
Homing Beacon allows you to place a red outline on an enemy by Iron Sighting on them for several seconds. This will allow the enemy to be seen by all your teammates, even through walls. The outline only lasts for a few seconds. Homing Beacon also lets you reveal enemy operatives in disguise.

I FOUND IIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!! This was taken from a Q&A from Fragworld on May 7th(so it's recent)

Q: I heard that Operatives can spot disguised enemy Operatives. When this happens, Will the auto-pvssyr notify the team, and/or are spotted Operatives "marked" with an icon or indicator, so teammates know who to look out for?

A: Actually, this was a feature we used to have, but we took out. Now, there are very few subtle clues that will let you know if someone’s in disguise. Even if you shoot at them, it won’t be revealed until you actually kill them, so you never know if you’re wasting ammo or actually going after a bad guy, and if the guy in disguise has nerves of steel, he can try to wait out being shot at, to “pretend” that he’s really on your side.
Note, this is in a FF off match. If FF is on, you get XP when you shoot at disguised enemies.

So believe that ho! Lol, but I also remember in the Get Smart videos that the lady said the ONLY way to tell if someone is a disguised Operative is either having the disguisee spot them or by killing them

There's the basic boost which is unlocked be default, which is +18%, and an improved version - which can be unlocked at Rank 4 - which is +33%.

Careful, that's likely outdated. Since you can spot them, as I mentioned above. Also, Nerves of Steal is an Engineer ability that lets him disarm explosives faster, so that's almost certainly outdated information.

How is it outdated info? The Q&A was taken yesterday. I'll give the link.

Are you sure YOUR info isn't outdated :spotted owl:

Also, when Richard Ham says "nerves of steel", he literally means nerves of steel, not the ability

The Operative beacon ability marks enemies, not specifically disguised Operatives.

Hopefully it'll work on Disguised Operatives though, so it can be used to that purpose - ironsight for a few seconds on them, if they highlight, it's an Operative, if not, carry on.

It was a skill but that has been taken off. It was in an interview, I think the interview from fragworld (where the compendium is).
Now the only way you can tell a disguised operative is by his actions and when he shoots his disguise wears off.

Ah, sorry, missed the part about it being recent.

I'd already found the link. Huh, for one thing, nerves of steel wasn't meant as the ability, I see. That makes more sense.

We're both right, actually. You can't automatically detect enemy Operatives, but you can use that ability to spot them.

Anything on snipers that we don't already know? Also engineer turrets

We have the two sniper rifles, the Drognav and the Barnett, the Drog is semi with a power of 80, and the Barnett is single shot, with the hefty power of 125 (Just enough to kill a unbuffed light body type)
And there are three types of Engineer turrets, light, medium, and Gatling, each one with a faster firing speed then the last.

I love how that small debate gave us a little more insight on Operatives. :)

Edit: I also think it was good to make the Operative disguise spotting an ability. It would be a pain being an Operative just for some random Op to look at you and you're done for.
