@MithrilArmor: Dual crossbows though. Bang Bang! tick tock tick tock tick tock Bang Bang!
Dude, I had not thought of that. What about dual crossbows? :gun: :mohawk:

Are crossbows in? That's even better. I heard ranged is being slowed down but given big damage increase. Finally I won't be spamming arrows into enemies. They may have finally realized while stealth is the third main specialization, marksman is the third weapon set (melee/mage/ranged).

So no info on a construction set for sure? I hope they just say it will be as modable as MW and OB if not more...

Name another game that you can easily mod that isn't made by Bethesda. They're not going to ditch a massive feature of the game. Plus if I'm not mistaken they build the game using the construction set. All they do is release it to the public.

Well you asked a question, then answered it and then you made a question about your self-answered question. The main thing to drag from your statement/questions is that it isn't obvious that you get the shouts from the main quest line, you just don't know so you can't very well know if you will be screwed if you run into a dragon until you know how you get dragonshouts.

If it said the story was dynamic, than to a point I am thinking you get some Dragon Shouts from the Thu'um guys and some from taking out major dragons that you encounter in the game, going through the plot in a non-linear fashion.

Well I don't think it has even been confirmed that crossbows are even in the game. I haven't seen all the pictures yet though so I may be wrong on this. I never really got the whole attraction to crossbows and spears. Spears would be okay to have in the game but most people only thought that it was so terrible to not have it in Oblivion because spears were op in Morrowind and all the OP things that were removed with Oblivion, everyone wanted them back *cough* Levitation *cough*

One thing that disappointed me at first was the fact we won't be able to choose the attributes we want to improve. But GCD mod from Morrowind did exactly this, and I enjoyed playing with it, so it's cool :) Bethesda finally changed that attribute system, no more efficient leveling :foodndrink:

Another thing was fast travel, I just hope someone makes a mod like CTN for Oblivion ASAP

The most scary thing I saw was action game features, in the combat system. So many things to do, this isn't an RPG-type combat system for sure. This is exactly like WoW is (except there it's the number of skills) and I hated WoW. I like games that require skill, like online FPSs, but not so much in an RPG. Every RPG I liked didn't have such an action-game system.

Another scary thing was that monsters and enemies will be adjusted to your level and skills (I think that was what I read, can anyone confirm?). If it's not well implemented, I expect an Oblivion-type level scaling.

Then there were other things I liked very much, like the improved radiant AI, duels, more random NPC behaviour, etc...

Cooking/farming/mining/woodcutting/blacksmithing I liked very much too of course :foodndrink:

No info about factions and the longevility, that's a shame.

I'm worried about the dragonshouts. Its obviously going to be something obtained during the main quest but what if you ignore the main quest? The article mentions that dragons will be a common enemy, so if you want to explore and ignore the main quest will we be screwed if we stumble across a dragon?

They said there was "various ways" to get them. So main quest-only indeed isn't that obvious. Your capability to use them is determined by how many dragon souls you absorb, anyway, and those apparently you encounter everywhere.

So psyched about these, BTW.

but you have to reload after every shot...

True.. telekinesis? :P

Are crossbows in?

Haha I don't know for sure, I was only kidding. I have a feeling they are though, considering they were in Morrowind and how disappointed people were when they realized they would not be in Oblivion.

Interesting direction Bethesda is taking Skyrim. Nice that they tied in Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion into the story. Glad to hear about the improvements to combat and random generated quests should increase play value. What I'm really interested in is the step away from a stat-based system and more of a leveling system similar to Fallout. I'm also curious as to what and how perks will play a role in Skyrim. This game definitely sounds like Bethesda got some inspiration from Dragon Age, and that's not necessarily a bad thing either. Can't wait to get my copy of GI in the mail. By the way is everyone getting the new GI at Gamestop? I assume that was where the magazine was released yesterday.

The magazine didn't mention how good the animation system was did it? It talked about more of the things characters do, but not the animations specifically...

Not that I've seen but from the way they were described they are far more distinct than they ever have been before, looking forward to making my Argonian Assassin.

Perks?!?!
I cant wait for Fallout V: Skyrim.

And please NO sword in one hand and spell in the other at the same time (like bioshock 2) and crossbows and bow duel wield.

:yucky:

Im sure they'll make bow a 2 handed weapon, they cant be that stupid.

The thing i'm not so sure of is dual welding spells. i thought spells were spoken as they summon/do it. What can we now speak twice in the same sentence?

Better than OB but not great. It was kinda like OB's, but instead of levels it was with location. I preferred it, but it was by no means perfect. Maybe they will improve it this time.

My biggest concern is the random guest thing. I imagine all quests relating to the various storylines will be set in stone, but will all side quests be random? Don't get me wrong I think it is a cool idea but I'm a bit concerned that some of the randomness might bite us in the ass. What if for one quest I was going to be sent to some HUGE ruin filled with all sorts of goodies, but since I had been to that ruin before I get sent to some dinky cave with little to no good loot? I'd like side quests to be different from random quests. Have the storyline set in stone, side quests set in stone, and random quests be the lowest tier of quests to undertake (not meaning they aren't as fun, just that they aren't as frequent).

Also, I found the number of cities to be quite alarming. There should be eight cities, there are eight on the map, EIGHT! I suppose that after 200 years three cities could have been destroyed but I still feel like five is too few, unless each of them is no smaller than the Imperial City was. I think a lot of the believability in Morrowind came from it's vast amount of cities and settlements. There had better be A LOT of small villages and settlements dotting the map.

And perks?!?! Really? It isn't necessarily a bad thing since they were included in Oblivion, but I don't know about the whole Fallout style they're implementing. I'm somewhat of a completionist (not a real word I know) when it comes to TES games, and I'd be a little sad if I couldn't get every perk available (you can in Oblivion).

And last but not least, I'm a little concerned about the sacking of the Major/Minor skills, but this mainly stems from my lack of knowledge over the new system for leveling up.

All in all the pros outweigh the cons, if they can even be considered cons at all, and I'm really happy and excited with all of the new info.

Morrowind: Mouth flaps open repeatedly.

Oblivion: INITIATE ANGRY! ANGRY COMPLETE! INITIATE NORMAL!

Hopefully the next stage will be animations that are a bit more fluid and less jarring in transition.

I [censored] myself when I first ran into a deathclaw near Old Olney, and I wasn't exactly a high level either. Let's just say it was a one-hit kill and a different pair of pants...
