Got the Magazine II

....then why not just buy a Werewolf or Vampire game?

Because which games allows you to free-roam, buy a house and play as a vampire or werewolf?(Seperating the Masquerade games for the PC, which I don't play)

None, Lycanthropy in the ES universe is the best.

In total:

Destruction
Alteration
Conjuration
Restoration
Illusion
Mysticism (now removed)
Alchemy
Enchant (now added)

in total for 8 magic skills and arguably 7 schools if enchanting is its own school.
So with Alchemy under magic skills I am thinking Alteration will be the second school to drop after Mysticism.

Found a quote :
"There is five schools of magic", said Todd Howard, "There were six in Oblivion. We got rid of Mysticism, and moved some of that stuff around. Magic school of mysticism, isn't that redundant ?"

I'm now officially confused. :P

What about the GPS compass? I really hope that gets removed. Or at least not pointing directly at an item or person you're looking for.

I wonder if these are going to be on-off powers or if they fall under different schools?

What? They aren't schools of magic. These are words of power.

Of course, they're most likely going to have SOME sort of limit on their use. Perhaps once a day? I don't know.

I'm now officially confused. :P

Alchemy is not, and has never been, a school of magic.

The things like shop inheritance make it sound like you actually have to think before you do. Interesting.

He's not counting alchemy and enchanting as schools of magic, but they're shown listed in a screenshot.

There are indeed 5 schools of magic. Mystism is confirmed to be gone.

Obviously there are more magic schools gone, otherwise we wouldn't be down to 5. But it's unknown as of now which those 'll be.

I wondered why it was mentionned. So, errr *counting late at night* he's right about one more school of magic to drop then ?

So does it say how extensive the level scaling will be? I hope it's not anything ridiculous again.

whoops, spelling mistake, was supposed to be "one-off" in that they are school independent. But it makes sense that they are independent how you described them the second time through (and first I guess, but I am going to pretend I didn't read it thoroughly)
Whatever the case it'll be fun to see how they work.

Alchemy is not, and has never been, a school of magic.

Yeah, forgot to mention that. Thought it was generally understood ;)

I'm pretty sure. I made up the list based on two magic based attributes, totaling 6 available skills, minus alchemy, giving 5 different school options.

Like I mentioned earlier in the thread. For now the ONLY thing that'll level scale are those generated quests. No info about other quests, or the general monsters in the area YET.. (No news = good news.. lol)
