Got the urge.

Post » Thu Nov 12, 2009 10:16 pm

I was thinking about it, by I've played Oblivion so many times now that it gets dull within minutes, maybe if I was on PC and had mods.

There is no way you can still play Oblivion on console after all this time without mods... at least not if you are sinking significant time into it. You should pony up and get it for your PC since it is a long 11 months, and with mods there are enough truly amazing quests that you won't get through them all before Skyrim arrives. There are some very talented modders out there which really have made my love for these games so much more profound just by adding their touches of imagination... Ever wanted to fly a dragon by white-gold tower, or fight a giant tarantula with a pair of magical calipers? How about joining an archeologist guild studying mysterious and amazing new dungeons with their own lore? Or leave Nirn altogether and experience an entirely new world nearly the same size as Cyrodiil but with an all new lore and hundreds of new quests... that is why vanilla Oblivion may have been an awesome game, but Oblivion and mods = LEGENDARY... so buy it for your PC... the mods are free after-all.

I tried to take time off of work on 11-11-11... I couldn't. Some idiot already took that as vacation leave. I'm quite certain the moron isn't going to be playing TES V either. The [censored].

Since Skyrim is as close to a direct sequel we've ever seen I've gotten the urge to go back and start playing Oblivion again. Has anyone else done this?

Why is it the closest to a direct sequel? Morrowind and Oblivion were like what 10 years apart? this is supposed to be 200 years later?
But to be honest I never stopped playing Oblivion haha

I like Oblivion, but I've played through so much of it so many times it's hard to be as enthusiastic anymore. :(

Same. I recently tried to play Morrowind, but the annoying combat and the mountains of text I have to read is making sure I can't really get back into the game.
I'm gonna get New Vegas for my Birthday, and hopefully that occupies my time almost as much as FO3, and then after I'm sick of that I can perhaps get into Morrowind and/or Oblivion again.
Minecraft is starting to excite me a little bit more recently having gotten badly sick of it a month or two ago, so that could get me in the mood for another expansive ES game.

SO EXCITED! :)

No, but then, I'm 50% through a playthrough when I got distracted by new games I'd bought. I'll eventually get back to it!

Too busy playing New Vegas right now. If I do go back and play, I'll probably pick up Morrowind, if I can stand that game anymore. I feel like I've drained all the fun I possibly can out of Oblivion, and that includes modding the crap out of it. Right now, it would take an obscene amount of time, or a good total conversion to get me back to Oblivion.

I tried playing oblivion again, but the combat mechanics always get me bored pretty quick. Maybe I should just turn the difficulty down so i can play for the story.

Hehe, yeah. Female Nord custom hunter class, with Oblivion skills matching that of a hunter. The worst part is finding suitable skills because they are so damned generalized. I want 100 times more skills, not less. When you upgrade a dice based game with a new rulebook, you tend to get more skills, not less... Don't like where this is going, I have to admit.

It's the right time after the announcement to start Oblivion again, i just can't figure out on which System to play on, either PC or Xbox360.. Mods vs. laziness.
But i saw some interesting Skyrim / Nord mods out there so i probably will start a new game on PC with a male Nord and some skyrim / nord mods, like nord weapons & armor and more to keep me thrilled.

Try Nehrim the only Tc for Oblivion and imo it has a very deep and rich World to explore: http://www.nehrim.de/indexEV.html

I was going to play it tonight actually, but i have put hundreds of hours into Oblivion so i played FEAR instead. (Damn you Alma, you are so terrifying running at me in the vents.) But i tried playing morrowind the other day and didnt even make it out of the first town before putting it down. Sad really.

I've got an urge to play Daggerfall again!

With DaggerXL's new version so close to being released now I'll wait a little bit more!

A bit of Arena and some of Morrowind, in-between modding for Oblivion.

I was playing Morrowind, until my computer decided it wants to be difficult and Windows corrupted itself. (Not while playing, but while OCing.)

So I had to reinstall and lost everything.

I have never anticipated a game as much as TES V. Can't freaking wait.

i'm right there with you! ALL of you!! I haven't felt this skittish about a game since Zelda II: The Adventure of Link .. *mmm gold cartridge*

..i've actually been playing Oblivion on the 360 on and off since this summer. I'm truly envious of the mods available for the PC users! ..but i still enjoy the game the way Bethesda gave it to me

I'm determined to finish Oblivion's main quest before starting V. I prefer Morrowind, and have never gotten 'into' Oblivion until very recently... so it'll be the first time.

I have been thinking of playing Morrowind for some time now, but now I can't make up my mind on which of the two to install. Decisions... I think I'll go with Oblivion first...To hell with studying, I'll do it right now.

Damn, I've been playing Oblivion ever since it's release, and started playing it everytime there were no new games for me. I think I have around 1000 hours on this game and I'm afraid that will happen to TES V again.

I plan to make another run through the whole series once it gets closer to the release date. Arena was a beast of a game, but I'm going in! I'm still debating about trying Daggerfall again. Those dungeons are not only *very* easy to get lost in (always keep a pre-dungeon save, in case you can't find your way out), but I still get the notorious "jumping bug" even with Bethesda's special free release version. The lack of instructions on how to do things like swim underwater and climb are a bit annoying, too :P.

I'll definitely do a nice, long play-through of Morrowind, my favorite TES game. My uber-modded version of Oblivion will get some love too :). Now, if only I could get the ES adventures games for a low price and make them run on modern PC's.
