GOTY Edition question

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:54 am

Hi,

I have a question about the game of the year edition. I had it, and installed the second disk so that I culd play KOTN and SI. Since then I made the very stupid mistake of trading in the game. I am wondering if I can buy the regular edition of Oblivion and play SI and and KOTN, or if I need to buy the GOTY edition once more.

I did delete all Oblivion stuff from my Hard Drive.....

Well, I have the GOTY and the first disk is just Oblivion; the second disc is the KotN and SI. The only difference I can tell between the Oblivion disc in GOTY and any other Oblivion disc is that the GOTY version comes patched up to the current patch - you don't have to track down the patches. So that may or may not be an issue ...

If you have twenty bucks, you can just buy GOTY again.

Yes, you can. SI and KOTN are plugins. My point is ... you may have to find the official patches (up to the latest) to make the game work smoothly and correctly (I think they're on the official site).

Where did I find it for twenty bucks? http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-IV-Oblivion-Game-Pc/dp/B000V9C9FO ... and ... http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?PID=7492000&style=games&frm=froogleother ... and ... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832262041&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Software+-+PC+Games-_-2K+GAMES-_-32262041.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the 260", but if it's some kind of console, that would have been good info to have up front. :)

I don't play on a console; I play on a PC. I assumed you, too, by your comment about the hard drive. So if you don't have a PC, then my answer is probably pretty much negated. I have no idea how consoles work. Sorry.

If you want KotN and SI, you'll have to buy them as well.

GotY will include them. Basic Oblivion won't.
