GRA wepons underpowered?

[There may be spoilers about GRA wepons]

So today i just got enouph caps to get a GRA wepon. I thought it would be was really nice to finally get a unique wepon. Before i bought it, I saved. First i bought "Smitty-special" and went to test it on some gun-runner guards, however i quickly realized that for 25000 caps, it was a complete ripoff.I had to just stand there fore 10 seconds as his health sloely went down while obsorbing tons of lead. I could have killed the guards faster with a Anti-material rifle faste (cost= 8000) r , for a fraction of the cost. I re-loaded and I tried the "Medicine stick" beacause it had a very high DAM(80), but when i tested it on the Gun runners, it was just like the Anti-material rifle i had been using exept with no scope and a faster rate of fire, which in my opinion is NOT worth 25000. I next tried the "Bozar", which was better then the smitty special, but, again, most enemys i could 1-shot with a 50MG to the head, rather then a whole bunch of fast shots. I went on to test 2 more GRA wepons before, being more of a stealth killer, just decided to keep my Anti-material rifle.

My opinion, these wepons are decent, but for how much thay cost, thay are way to underpowered.

So.....if you can't one-shot them then the weapon is useless? Well if that's your style....

But in the time you eject the shell with the anti-materiel on 3 enemies I would have already killed 5 to 6 enemies with half of the weapons in the pack.

What gives?"

I just think that, considering thay cost 25000 caps each, thay should be a bit better then a 8000 cap gun, y'know?

They are too expensive, I agree with that. But I am content with their power. Sans the Bozar, which is IMO far too weak. More damage and have it use a rarer ammo type perhaps.

so you're basically saying the anti materiel rifle is better than everything. so i can safely assume you like the anti materiel rifle then? if i was asked to guess your favorite weapon, i'd have to go with the anti materiel rifle

I hate the Anti-Materiel rifle. It's really expensive and doesn't even hit as hard as the Fat Man!

The Bozar is pretty dissapointing because of its inability to do anything against targets with DT and I find automatic weapons with scopes to be a hindrance, not an advantage.

My Vance's 9mm Sub machinegun with JHP ammo is way more effective, with very common ammo, and it was free with a high lockpick skill.

I think the Bozar should do about 10 more damage and have a slightly bigger clip, it's a very versatile gun though.

You don't even need to have a lockpick skill of 100, you can get the code to the safe with a speech skill of 60.

Since when was it hard to get caps anyway? Vanilla prices are a joke.

Bozar is pretty crappy, it's like the Infiltrator. It has a scope but terrible spread and recoil so the zoom is pointless. It's the usual problem with all automatic guns in NV: terrible spread.

The mfc grenades are very good, probably even the best due to availability.

Have you used the MF Hyperbreeder?

I kid you not with the proper build and perks you can kill a Deathclaw faster than the Avenger with AP rounds.

I agree about the Bozar, but at least the Infiltrator had a silencer and the unique one, the Perforator, was deadly in the hands of my stealth character. I have to say that the main reason why I scrapped the Bozar is because it didn't replace my current automatic weapon. The CZ57 Avenger is just better in every way and it has surprisingly good spread for the street sweeper that it is.

So far my favourite thing they've added is also one of the least expensive: the Katana. There are plenty of other melee weapons that hit harder, but fully modded you can hit a guy 3 times before he even decides to hit back. The Lil' Devil is also amazing, I mean it's pretty much a hand cannon. I am loving the Paciencia even with the iron sights problem and, for you AMR lovers, the crit damage on this very special and unique hunting rifle equals the damage of the AMR.

The MF Hyperbreeder, Tri-Beam+++, SprtelWood and Plasma Grenades with Gannon Family Tesla Armour.

That is all.

I'm actually glad the GRA guns aren't just uber weapons that upset the balance of the game.

I love the Medicine Stick. Finally, I have a nice and clean .45-70 that's sighted correctly.

Here's an idea for you: Go into the divide with an AMR and try to fight tunnelers.

The AMR has its uses, but its role doesn't really overlap much with TSS.

Also, the GRA guns are money sinks designed to appeal to high level couriers who are sitting on tens or hundreds of thousands of caps with nothing to spend them on.

Or those like me, who max Barter on every character and obsessively loot everything, thus having a ton of crap to sell for max value and nothing else to sell it for since we already have thousands of rounds of ammo. My current EW/Explosives user has

Smitty Special
Sprtel-Wood9700
Tri-Beam(GRA)+++
Plasma Defender(GRA)+++
Esther
Hyperbreeder Alpha

and a ton (literal in a couple of cases) of ammo for each. Dumped well over 100K in loot to get it all, and still have another 100K+ to sell. Will be getting a 25mmAPW+++ later, since she's about to run Dead Money and will be dragging out another 100K+ in loot to sell.

after obtaining the GRA sniper rifle with all the mods and the AMR with all the mods, i would say the sniper rifle is much better.
during some testing with both weapons in "hidden" mode, i found that even though both the AMR and sniper rifle have silencers, the AMR still appears to be loud enough to cause an alert to the death claws while the sniper rifle did not.
the sniper rifle required more shots to kill compared to the AMR but effectively eliminated the death claws without alerting them.
the sniper rifle fires and reloads much faster than the AMR and is much lighter.
additionally, the AMR stinks if you attempt to use it while "caution" is displayed, you just waste ammo at this point.
the sniper rifle doesnt seem to have this issue when "caution" is displayed.

LOL, well, started a new game, only at level 27 (with all DLC's), gun and sneak skill @ 50, strength @ 8.
for the AMR to be fully effective, it requires a gun skill of 100 and strength of 8, so its really not suited for me very well at this point as it only works well when "hidden" (sneak DAM bonus).
the sniper rifle is better suited as its skill is 75 and strength is 6 as that will work well in any situation.
i even have the GRA 12.7 SMG with the mods and that still falls below the gun skill im currently at, but not the strength requirement, gotta find those damn skill books lol (i spread out skill points evenly)
