Graphic Settings/Quality Don't Change : Fallout: New Vegas

Hiiii there...

No matter what settings I apply, from Low to Ultra High, the game seems to stay on Low even though when I first ran New Vegas it recommended Ultra High. It just seems to be constantly stuck on low. The only thing that works when I change it is the Resolution.

I've just updated my graphics drivers as of 20 mins ago and that did nothing either. I used to play Fallout 3 in Maximum fine... So whats going on?

AMD Athlon II X2 240 @ 3.71Ghz
RAM
4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 706MHz (8-8-8-20)
Graphics
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series

Go to your "Documents\My Games\FalloutNV" and see what the timestamp is on FalloutPrefs.ini.

Is it being updated when you exit the Fallout Launcher?

Yea its being modified when i exit the game/launcher

What are you using as an indication that the specs don't change?
Do the sliders in the Advanced Tab revert to the low settings? Or is it just your perception of the in-game graphics?
Are you running the screen resolution at the native resolution of your monitor?

Well I have taken a Screenshot using the Low setting and one at Ultra High. They are the same. And yes i'm running in my native res.

Are you overriding settings in the ATI Control panel? Tried defaulting these settings?

That looks like it is using smaller texture files.

When you hit the Ultra High preset, do things in the advanced settings menu actually change? Maybe the Ultra High preset config is messed up somehow.

Also try hitting the Low setting in the launcher, exiting and then making a copy of FalloutPrefs.ini. Then go back into the launcher, choose Ultra High, exit and compare the old version of FalloutPrefs.ini with the new version.

Yea the files change loads. And yes the Advanced settings change when changing between quality levels.

That is so weird. Those textures look horrendous.

I assume you don't have any texture replacing mods.

I'd definitely check your video card control panel, especially anything texture and AF related.

Good shout, for some reason my card was running Minimaps in the lowest setting. Seems to have fixed it. Thanks all!
