Was this mentioned in any of the reviews?

Oh thank god, after reading all the user issues, sounds like it is not my xbox that is the problem..Patch please :) Shadow effect in this game is a tad off putting, sorta stutters across the screen..Not pretty at all.

I have noticed this problem becoming more prominent the further I have progressed into the campaign. At times it is so bad it makes the game look pretty bad. It is almost like a blizzard in some areas.

As a test I loaded a new game up in a new gamertag and there wasn't any visible issues. I only played a bit of the game, though.

In my game as an example:

The problem was not visible after I had been rescued when Hargreaves wanted the suit from me (when the female CIA person comes in and shoots the guards). It stayed away until I progressed to the room with the trophies and guards and then it kicked in. It did exactly the same thing when a friend got to the same bit on their profile.

When I go into nano-vision the screen is sometimes so fuzzy I cannot make much out. The bit where you cut the power and have to escape from the guards was a nightmare to get through.

Other times, the nano-vision was clear but the problem soon returns (in both standard and nano view).

No, it's definitely a problem. One minute I have it on the multiplayer, the next I don't. Single player looks awful now. Just reached times square and it's totally pixellated with moving scan lines across the screen.

The night time levels and the rainy levels look terrible, which is a massive shame, as I can see how good the graphics would be without this problem.

I already did. I bought the game the day it came out and have only passed it once and it wasn't that fun because I had to lose my progress when this glitch happened by using mission replay. I tried to play it again but I can't deal with the grain glitch. I have given up on Crysis 2 until the patch comes out. It's torture waiting. Waited years for this sequel and this is what I get? I have a similar, if not identical issue. I know what film grain is, but every once in awhile the entire picture is distorted by many different shaded rectangles, some of which have a greenish hue. This is extremely obvious when looking at the sky, as it creates lines moving across the screen, and it is even worse on rainy or foggy levels.

It looks absolutely terrible on my screen and I cant stand it... Is Crytek going to fix this?

Ugh.

Whether it's a problem with the film-grain effect or not, it's actually triggered by atmospheric effects in the game, like rain or smoke. You'll notice that the first time you see it is most likely when the bridge goes out in 'road rage' and there's smoke everywhere, and that until you stop playing and reload the game, the effect stays (and gets worse). Giving us the option to turn off the grain filter may or may not fix the problem, so I'd rather they just kill the bug, personally.

In the meantime, the fix mentioned above *does* work for me. If you exit to your dashboard between levels (I didn't have to turn off the machine for it to work) and choose 'replay' for each one, you shouldn't see the glitch for the entire game. I've gone through the campaign that way twice now without seeing it.

It still svcks that you have to deal with it the first time through, though. Needs a fix badly.

I fixed this problem last night!!

1. First I had mine installed on my HD so I uninstalled it.
2. I then cleared my xbox 360 cache.
3. I loaded the game and didn't download the update.
4. I then started a level from the beginning of one using the level select (do not resume game)
5. It loaded and it was fine so I played to a save.
6. I've since downloaded the update and it's still working fine!

I have posted this in other forums and it has resolved other peoples issues too! Hope it helps.

Just downloaded update. Loaded up checkpoint that is right after first alien tissue extraction. Played for a bit, loaded up fine, was nice and clean looking and of course, the grain glitch CAME BACK!! Seems all this patch was for probably was to get rid of cheaters. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!

UGH!! Don't be foolish, the grain/ diagonal lines go hand and hand. I am talking about the same grain issue everyone else in this thread has.

Can't believe Crytek puts so much emphasis on graphics and they didn't pick this up before shipping the game. This is just bad quality control.

I re-started the campaign and this time the grain/ lines appeared right before the Wall street level (after exiting the apartment/ lab). I think I'll wait for a proper fix/ patch before I play the game again. I should have gotten the PS3 version... (Is this glitch only on Xbox?)

Same here. It's typical Crytek. I have been playing Crytek games since they first came out with Farcry pc back in the day. It never fails, Farcry and Crysis both were released with awful bugs and glitches that had to be fixed way later down the road. I was hoping since now they were going to make console games that maybe they had gotten better at not releasing a bug filled game, but obviously that is not the case. Same old Crytek, fix it later, that's their motto. UGH!!

The same here is Brazil. Did Crytek at least gave any explanation so far? At least something like "we are aware and working on it"?

Aww man. I was just about to post that it looked like the patch had fixed the grain as I started the Lab Rat level which has always shown off this glitch to me and the entire level was fine this time round. I've also checked the raining level which showed off the glitch but that looks great as well. But if the glitch is still present, it's a time bomb of when it's gonna hit me again and turn my awesome looking graphics into crap. ha ha. FIX THIS A.S.A.P. CRYTEK.....pretty please.

It is rather time bomb like isn't it? lol Don't load individual stages with replay mission to test it. Just play the game from a checkpoint and the bug will pop up eventually.

Ive done a couple of levels since the update and it's still working fine. Im not doubting that the glitch isnt still there but I'm hoping it leaves me alone for a while. ha ha. I showed the game off to my mate before (whilst there's no grain in site!) and he was blown away but it's hard recommending C2 to people whilst these bugs still exist.

Still, awesome game. ha ha
