Graphical issue (grain or parasite)

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 2:25 pm

Having exactly the same problem as everyone else, diagonal lines of grain shooting up the screen causing a degradation of picture quality which is most noticeable when in nanovision or looking at the sky, HOWEVER it does affect the overall picture quality substantially.

The lines of grain don't always appear throughout entire levels of the campaign and not always in the same place either but when they do you'll know all about it because it looks awful and really hurts the visuals on display.

The first time I played through the campaign the lines of grain were there for the majority of it, and the last level looked terrible, went back and replayed a few of the levels that were badly affected and the grain had gone... only to reappear later.

The bottom line is it's a graphical bug that shouldn't occur and needs to be patched.

P.S.
Lorenso the troll should go live under a bridge because he's talking out of his arse, it's clearly a software problem and not hardware related given that exactly the same issue has been reported by a large quantity of people using a wide variety of setups.

First off, "Lorenso", very funny my friend, you certainly got the forum into a frenzy, I love your use of the word "issue" every few words.. very good. "The issue is your issue not game issue, I don't have this issue, the issue is your issue" ...

Anyway... I too have this "issue" (see what I did !!) I tried the first level restart method with no joy, then tried the private multiplayer lobby fix. WORKED. I can at least finish the game now "glitch & grain free"

Oh and Lorenso, if this is my TV or Xbox or cables or whatever, how come when I did the private lobby fix the grain vanished ! and I did no alterations on my side..?

Anyway, this is my only post on this matter, I'm not going to argue and debate with anyone,
this is a game bug for Xbox 360.
I won't respond now to any "its your issue not game issue" crap just wanted to add that I too have this glitch or is it "issue"

Over and out

I just started seeing this last night. OMG! Has anyone from Crytek said anything about this. It is a real bug that needs to be fixed. Cry-Tom? Anyone? Please this game is absolutely gorgeous and this diagonal grain ruins it. Can we at least here from you that you're looking into this matter?

After reading all these posts Im adding my experiences now,

I was holding off Central station in single player and i noticed how bad the grain had become, Amongst all the action it became difficult to spot enemies from a distance. But i managed to wade my way through the rest of the level.
Next up was Time square and to my relief the grain had gone and everything was looking much sharper. Then when I got outside it started to get bad, really bad. After the part when all the lights are cut out and your outside in the rain at night, It was almost unplayable.

I turned it off and came on here.

Please fix this Crytek, its a great game and the graphics are good but this grain is ruining the experience.

After stumbling upon this post, I tried looking for the graphical glitch last night and it's there! I guess before, I thought that's how the game is suppose to look. But upon further testing restarting the game and starting a private MP game on Skyline the bug is gone. I go join another multiplayer game and it's BACK! The bug seems to fix itself if you restart, but only for the first MP game you're in. Then it returns there after.

The graphical glitch is always present when I tried resuming my singleplayer game. I also noticed that the main menu flickering once the "parasite" graphical glitch is in effect ( in MP). Anyone else notice this?

I tried changing HDMI output resolution, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. I tried changing the HDMI color space and Reference levels which had no affect on the problem. I think you guys are right in that this is a game bug.

I'll take some direct comparison pictures later today to show new-comers how much this problem degrades the game's graphical qualities.

I cleared my cache last night and the grain glitch is gone for now...hope it doesn't rear it's ugly head again. I played 2 SP missions and 2 hours of MP, and the glitch never came back. *knock on wood*

I've tried everything from clearing the cache to re-installing the game, to restarting the level and so on and this bug always returns at some point. How this bug got past testing, if Crytek even did any, is beyond me, and needs to be addressed, or at least acknowledged by Crytek immediately.

I was able to play for about 2 hours last night after clearing the cache and everything was fine. I fully expect to have this glitch come back at some point after hearing other stories though.

I really think that we're not hearing more about this because people just aren't noticing it. I think that most people are thinking what I thought when I started playing Crysis 2..."Hmm, these graphics are not that good. What are all the reviewers talking about when they say this game has the best graphics on the console? They're not that good at all." Meanwhile, they're experiencing this grain glitch and have no idea.

The only reason I started thinking something was wrong with my game was because I kept watching these videos on youtube and such of people playing the xbox 360 version of the game, and it would be crisp and the graphics looked so much better than what I was playing with. So then I came on here, and what do you know...there's a stupid glitch.

I really hope that Crytek doesn't brush this off because not that many people may be experiencing it, because it really does take away from the enjoyment of the game for those people that are affected.

I don't think so, this is a Xbox specific issue...

Has nothing to do with what kind of set you're playing it on. You either have the bug or you don't. I'm playing it on a 1080p Bravia and have the problem as I'm sure many others do. The level with the heavy rain is practically unplayable. In other places it's not so bad but I refuse to play anymore until this issue has been resolved. Has anyone from Crytek even acknowledged this problem exists yet?

If they would just hot-fix this issue I would be a happy camper. I can wait for other bug fixes, but this one keeps me from wanting to play the game.

Lorenso, go p*ss up a rope you complete and utter douchebag!

This is a legit problem many people are experiencing, where are you Crytek???????

I'm playing in 3D so of course with this glitch that's a complete waste of time.

The fact Crytek aren't responding to this thread makes me think a fix isn't salvageable with a patch, at least not yet....
