Graphical issue (grain or parasite)

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 5:01 am

this annoyed the hell out of me.
before i found out it was a glitch, i swapped leads, changed to using component cables & i thought my 360/TV was playing up.
I lived with it most of the way through the sp campaign & it made the night/fog levels look really bad.
the game itself is excellent. this bug is not.

& to have no official word from them after 38 pages on the topic other than 1 bloody sentence is just wrong.

"best graphics on a console" my arse!!!!

sort it out, pronto.

I dunno if this has been posted yet, but I figured out an easier fix for this that the "sign out, start new game, reload chapter you were on" fix

when you start getting the glitch, wait till you get to a checkpoint, exit to the dashboard and eject your disk tray and then load the game again and go to resume game

this way you don't have to start at the beginning of a mission and you get to keep all your weapons

i've tried this fix several times and it's worked every time

thx for sharing, i'll try this workaround.

Hey Lorenso...
Losers you all.. who with this issue.. not me.. lol

Lorenso Lorenso Lorenso.... I doubt that you even own a copy of this game let alone an XBOX 360. It's obvious that you are only here to instigate and annoy people on this forum. You must be the type of person who simply lies down and allows others to take advantage of you throughout the day. Then when you come home to your cesspool the only release you seem to be able to muster is to spew your broken English, anti-American, delusional, sociopathic garbage. Here's a tip, no one cares what you have to say, so go harass someone else. Nothing you have said has added to any topic on this forum. You sir, suffer from the most extreme case of verbal diarrhea. Perhaps if you were able to speak in semi-proper English, and form even scarcely recognizable sentences, then we would be able to decipher whatever it is you are attempting say, but sadly this is not the case. This is the last post I will make regarding your behavior on this forum, as it is abundantly clear that you will not cease your pointless ramblings, and all I am doing is adding fuel to your pathetic little fire. However I believe these things need saying, but as I said, and I hope others will follow my lead, I will simply ignore your trash from here on out and stay on topic.

Yes, Cry-Adam has posted a response to this thread and is looking into the issue and hopefully within the next week a fix will be applied. I still think it's important to keep this thread in top however, and I strongly urge the moderators to please make this thread a sticky.

Hey ***, Cry-Adam responded to this issue and they are now aware.
Hey Moron..Cry-Adam responded? and what he responded? yes.. game have this issue and we are working with it?or just aware?.. only that you lagged behind them..
Most part of people dont have this issue Including me..
You have this issue? your problem..not crytek problem..I repeat Most part of people dont have this issue Including me..

Now really, you have some kind of brain sickness? or you have trouble understanding english?

How is not Crytek problem if I paid $60.00 Dlls + Tax for this game and I cant even play it the way its suposed to be played because me and many others have this bug.

Please just leave and never come back.

Everyone please...lets just stop responding to Lorenso's comments. We all know they're moronic and not worth our energy. Lets keep this thread on the right path.

Who ever has the capability to record this 'grain glitch' from their TV, please do so and upload it to youtube and link it here...we need more examples of when it appears and how prominent it can be. Also show that you're using an xbox 360.
With how quiet Crytek is being about this...I'm sure they were aware of it from the 'get go'. I want them to know we're not letting it slide. It's a shame we have to shell out our earned money for a broken product.(the gaming industry is getting away with this way too much these days)

FIX THIS CRYTEK! And the odd comment once a month from your moderators will not suffice.

I have read complaints about this grain/filter bug/glitch on 10 different forums now and a lot of people do not have the patients to deal with it. I really love the game so i try to play with the temp fix. But word is spreading fast about how crytek is "ignoring" the community which will only hurt them in the pocket book. I think it svcks to be honest since they made a wicked game, but the devs need to keep grinding until the few major issues are fixed once and for all.

OK so I started a new game, and at the very end of Second Chance (I think that's the name, it's the first mission in the game) the grain/static bug appeared for me. When Sudden Impact loaded up the bug wasn't there right away, but before you go into the bridge where the Ceph ship attacks and you crash to the ground, the grain bug came back. From there I exited to the dashboard, re-loaded the game and started Sudden Impact over again from the beginning and the bug didn't come back. Hope devs see this and it helps in some way.

Did you start a new game and applied your fix when you first encountered the glitch or did you already have a saved game and started from there? I ask because your fix is not working on my save that is at the first checkpoint in the beginning of Corporate Collapse.

It really svcks that we have to stop playing, dashboard, pop a game out of the tray, and reload to play the game so it doesn't look like pure crap. I have about 40 minutes a day to play and I'm not in the f****n mood to jerry rig my xbox to play a game I paid $60 for.

Crytek fix this horses**t or forget about me paying for DLC, recommending this game, or ever buying another Crytek product. I was really enjoying this game until this crap made the single player look HORRIBLE (especially during the night scenes)

Yeah it does svck. I guess I will start a new game and when I first encounter the glitch I will try your workaround. When you eject the disk do you take out the disk, close tray, and then re-insert disk? Thanks in advance.

The Summary of this topic.

Grain/Static Bug

Sometimes, after playing normally for 1-2 hours, the output gets this weird Grain/Static effect on screen (like very old CRT TVs malfunctioning), like a transparent "No TV Signal-Static"-like effect, and it's really ugly, distracting and annoying to see.

Here's an image:
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd83/xI_V3n93ance_Ix/DSC_0932.jpg

and here's a video:

It happens both in Campaign and in Multiplayer too, and I really don't know why it's there: I tried different games and configuration, but ONLY C2 is affected by this, so it's software dependent rather then hardware/cables.

I really hope they recognise it and fix it.

Until then, I found a way to temporary fix it:

**Method 1** When you see it turn off your console. Restart the game, go to the Main Menu, and reload the Campaign Chapter you were playing from the beginning with "Repeat Mission". You will get the default weapons of the level, but the bug will disappear.
It seems to be a problem with "Resumed Savegames" in the middle of the levels...

**Method 2 (if Method 1 doesn't work for you)** Turn Off your Console. Restart the game, go to Multiplayer->Private Match, and launch a Private game with only you inside. Just let the map load, and go around the map. The problem should disapear (even on Campaign side, just reload the Chapter from the Beginning like in Method 1)

Hope it will work for you, cause it works for me... ;)

My configuration:
-Xbox 360 Slim 250GB
-Crysis 2 installed on the Hard-Drive
-HDMI connection in 1080p@60Hz

i had started a new game and first encountered the glitch on this particular playthrough on the level "lab rat"
i got pissed and went to play another game, but just as i was about to switch games one of my friends came over and i wanted to show him the bug, i restarted the game and it was gone
the bug came back in the level "seat of power" so i tried this fix again and it worked this time too

i was hoping it would be something reliable

I can't get your method of getting around this glitch to work on my current save. I will start a new game and try to duplicate what you did. Hopefully it will work. I'll report back later.

well crap

don't bother

the glitch came back in later levels and the fix doesn't work any more

if you want to see this glitch actually occurring....

go to the level "seat of power"
after you make it out of the apartment building and past the first group of ceph you'll enter a small room with a dead body on the floor and a radio on the table

in this room you'll reach a checkpoint just before going up a small flight of stairs

turn on your nano vision and go up the stairs and walk in to the next room

after a few steps the glitch should take affect right before your eyes and will not go away and it carries over to the next level

it must have something to do with a bug with particle effects in large, open environments

Mine always starts right after the part where you extract your first alien tissue sample. Pretty early in the game. Always seems to happen around the checkpoint, after the alien tissue extraction, that is in the tunnel as you are heading to the FDR right before you see some CELL dudes being attacked by the Ceph. Never fails, always happens to me right there. Oh well, at least we tried. lol. Back to waiting for a patch that fixes this bug permanently.
