Graphical issue (grain or parasite)

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 1:43 pm

it also always happens in the decontamination chamber right before you meet up with that military dude (can't remember his name) and go to defend the trains

If you do what I do, which is to quit after each stage and restart the game and level I was on with mission replay, then you would see that it is not level specific. I can play every single stage and never get the glitch, but only with the method I just described. If I play a few stages continuously, doesn't matter which, the glitch will eventually show up at a completely random moment. It is NOT stage or event specific. I hope this helps Cry-Adam.

Oh wait, I know where you are talking about and I can confirm that if I use mission replay I do NOT get the glitch in that stage at any spot. It is not level specific I am sorry to say.

hmmm, what a strange bug

Yeah, it's a weird one. Takes me back to my PC gaming days when troubleshooting was half the fun. lol

same here for me it isnt a specific area when it was occuring, it just happened after a few games of online play or during campaign after a bit of time playing. However my graphics problem is now completely fixed, even this grain glitch. Yesterday morning before the patch, i decided to use a old game save that i had backed up and discard the current one, which i suspected may be corrupted somehow. Then after getting on live i get the update, and presto, everything is perfect and fine, even after a long 3-4 hou session of campaign mode, then a few hours of online multiplayer. Not one glitch of any kind. Was it the patch, or game save? Not sure, but i can promise you whatever worked got ride of everything bad that was occurring during my gaming experience before .

well, it can't be the patch because they said it didn't fix this glitch

You have a good point, reason i say maybe the patch is because it could of been something they did fix ended up keeping it from bugging out in other areas. i dont know, but i do know that i has serious problems with mine and it is all gone now, just a perfect game, no troubles or anything. Another thing i will mention i discovered a copy of my own gamer profile that was corrupted also on my hard drive, when i in fact never made any backup or copies of my gamer file. It is almost like it is a virus of some kind, something that hackers corrupted, but like i said whatever it was, its gone now.

Guys,

The more I read on this issue it sounds more like it happens if you play the game continuously for hours on end on your xbox 360 systems. This glitch sounds like part Xbox 360 hardware related as if something is getting too hot and part Game related.

I have a few xbox 360 games that exhibit the grain effect but it's only after continuous play and I usually shut off the system for awhile and go back too it later when it's cooled off a bit.

It's symptoms you all described that made think of the possibility for overheating going on as well as the game playing a role with it. It's almost like the grain effect you describe sounds like the xbox 360 gpu is artifacting a bit due to heat but I could be wrong. I know when PC graphic cards get hot you will see artifacts and stupid detailed textures in games go dumb and grainy from time to time.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

I have much experience with the RROD issue. Let me assure you that it is NOT related to the hardware. If that were the case then any game I put in after the getting the glitch would exhibit the glitch, but the do not. It is 100% the game and not the XBox 360. Not to mention it has happened to people with brand new XBox 360s.

Well I just did some testing. I backed up my save game onto my memory card and started fresh with a brand new save. I started the SP campaign from the beginning on veteran and was just playing normally. As I described before in my other post it was going great up until the beginning of the Lab Rat level. As soon as I fired my weapon on that stage the grain glitch came back even with a brand new save and my old save not being on the XBox. I am not sure what the cause is of this glitch, but it is a definite bug that needs to be addressed. Why it happens to some and not others is a question I think only the gamesas team can answer.

I feel like it does happen to most...I think some people just don't really notice it...or they think it's part of the game.

I wish I could go to Crytek HQ with with my XBox so I could show them the bug personally. I'm in the United States though so I can't. Would if I could.

Can you make a video of it for us so they can get a better idea of what is going on?

No I can't. I don't have a camera. Also, I don't need to since there are many videos already posted in this thread from Youtube which I am sure Crytek has seen. I've done what I can, the ball is in Crytek's hands now. They are going to have to try to reproduce the issue and I am sure that they will. I just don't know how long it will take.

yeah, that video's been posted in this thread a couple time already

and to the person that thought it was from the 360 getting too hot, that can't be the problem because it's there if you resume a game that was saved while it was visible, even if you just turned on the console

What are the two temp methods for fixing this problem again? Anyone know please? I know one of them is replaying a mission from the start but that hasn't worked for me this time. What is the other method? Something to do with creating a private game in multi-player?

It's pissing me right off now this grain problem.

In order for the temporary fix to work you need to dashboard first before you do your mission restart. It won't fix it if you just go to mission replay without restarting the game first.

1) Latest Patch: Yes, 1.1.1.8003
2) Connection type: HDMI
3) Resolution: 1920x1080
4) Console type: Slim 250GB
5) Reproducable?Yes. When i met gaul. As soon as i get attacked by the CELL in gauls apartement BAM... grain start.
I tried saving the game before... turning off my Xbox... leave it for the next day. Start the game again next day with the XBox cool off. and as soon as the CELl attack me.. BAM GRAIN again... no matter what i do it kicks in that chapter. When i met Gaul for 1st time.

It has nothing to do with the Xbox. I have 3 Xbox (one slim and the other is a 20GB Go Pro and the 3rd is a Falcon Halo edition) all the three get this issue.

I too have this annoying random grain problem, and it's very distracting.

1) Latest Patch: Yes
2) Connection type: HDMI
3) Resolution: 1920x1080p
4) Console type: Elite 120GB
5) Reproducable? Not sure what you mean! But it sometimes happen, and other times not.
