Graphics Bugs: Flashing white spots

Post » Thu Aug 12, 2010 10:14 pm

Hi, I'm most likely sure that others have experienced this, but when I walk around the wasteland I have graphical bugs like pieces of a mountain shaking, and random white flashes of a circular gradient. Also, instead of anti-aliasing, the game adds white pixels to otherwise anti-aliased spots. I've tried the d3d9.dll fix, and it did not change this. However, when I turned off anti-aliasing and anistropic filtering, it helped a little, but I really don't want to sacrifice quality because of a bug. If this is widespread, please release a patch, Obsidian!

These are my

Software Specifications:
Windows 7 64 bit

Crucial Hardware Specifications:
Intel Core i7 930 (@2.8ghz)
6gb RAM
Nvidia GTX 465

Thanks in advanced for any help at all. It is GREATLY appreciated :tops:

You need to run disk defragramenter. That white box is a placeholder for textures that haven't been read from the hard disk yet. Go into Start-->Program Files-->System Tools--> Disk Defragmenter. Make sure to close all running programs before beginning your degrag.

You need to do a search on the white spots. Some of it is a conflict in the Geforce driver with some water reflection setting, which you need to reset somehow or other, but I haven't been running any Geforces lately, and I don't remember the specific setting. .

I think this is closer to the issue than a missing texture placeholder since I've seen these white spots flash briefly in the distance and disappear. Normally when a missing texture icon shows up, it'll persist indefinitely until you fix it, or remove the mod in question.

These flashes are something else entirely.

there is a solution for the white flashes in this post:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1125468-fix-for-white-pixelsspecksdots-nvidia-users/page__p__16533849__hl__flash__fromsearch__1&#entry16533849

seems some constelation between game and nvidia driver dont know who to blame and svcks to have to have to tweak like that but for me turning HDR or AA of wasnt an option. now runs smooth like a charm

EDIT: wait theres a new NVIDIA Driver out--> version 260.99 released on 25.10.2010 try that first and plx report if it helped
