Graphics card for 32" TV

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 10:23 am

If I were to use my PC to play on my samsung 32" HD TV would I need to go into the higher end of graphics cards like the GTX 580? or could I go for something lower like the GTX 460?

Thanks for your time.

(P.S if anyone needs to see the TV I will send a pic)

2 hours ago I was searching on the net for various hardware and when I inspected the Nvidia GTX 580 vid. card it showed a max. resolution of 2000x1900 something. I'm not sure if that means that you can't use that card on resolutions higher than the given one and on a monitor larger than 22 inches. I'm no pro at this though so I guess someone here that knows about hardware might help you.

No one knows how this game is gonna scale yet so any info would be a guess. I assume this TV is 1080p, if so a GTX460 1GB would probably be enough for decent gaming at full HD. If the game has the ability to utilise DX11 tech like tessellation, Direct Compute etc then to run full HD at maximum might require a GTX580. Until the game is released no one can say.

it does not matter what video card you have in term of it's specs
as long as it has HDMI port, you can hook it up to any tv with HDMI via HDMI cable (doh), TV's resolution will do the rest

btw. i did not try this with converters (like VGA to HDMI)

Yeah ive got a HDMI connection lead and my PC will also have a HDMI connection port so thats no problem, Ive hooked my laptop up to my TV before and the picture quality seems stretched? so I was wondering about that, and the TV runs appropriattelty at 720p, I dont think 1080p is good for gaming because it picks up to many imperfections.
