Graphics card not being seen.

Post » Fri Jan 24, 2014 1:08 am

I recently decided to upgrade to a AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series Twin Frozr III graphics card. Fallout New Vegas won't see it, but Fallout 3 and Skyrim do. For Fallout 3 and Skyrim the correct card is selected in the options menu via the Launcher. But for Fallout New Vegas it does not give the option in the sname menu.

So My question is, is there a way I can make the game see it, or do I really have to switch back to my other older NIVIDIA card and save the new one for later?

Try maxing your settings and see how it plays. If it's a Steam install, try verifying cache integrity.

The Launcher will not always report newer cards that came out after the game did. But, this only serves to set your initial graphics settings, those you can do your self. With the card you have, High or Ultra will work just fine, or you can manually tweak the individual settings if you want.

Also, you can try deleting the Prefs file in My Games/Fallout NV and let the game make new ones, that might make the card show up in the launcher.
