Graphics Card Recommendation

Post » Sun Dec 05, 2010 9:37 pm

Hello, I'm in need of a new video card, I'm currently using a crappy Nvidia Geforce 7600... yeah it's old and bad. I'm not a PC pro so I need some help picking a new one out, if you guys would, please. I'm not looking to spend a lot, I'm on a super budget, and I don't need an "amazing" or even a "great" video card. I just want something that can max out Oblivion and World of Warcraft and have good fps. Both are pretty old-ish games that I play regularly, and I'm pretty sure they aren't that graphic intensive at all.
I've been checking out these 3 cards:

http://www.amazon.com/HIS-Radeon-128bit-Express-H467QR1GH/dp/B002ZLPS04/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1303256494&sr=1-6

Yes, they are cheap, but I'm on a budget, and I really don't need anything amazing. Which one would you guys recommend? Or can you recommend something else for around the same price?

Thanks for your time.

There's really not much of a choice there if that's all you're willing to look in to. Both the NVidia 9500 and the Radeon 4670 are only DirectX 10 compatible cards. The format now is Direct X 11, and that 430 is the only one that will run games that will be using it. If you can come up with a bit more cash though, I would recommend at least a 460. The one your linking to there is pretty much the bottom of that particular line and won't be all that great. Probably better than your 7600, but not by alot. The 460 is actually a pretty good card and has a fairly reasonable price tag these days.

The best card out of those is easily the Radeon 4670 and it would be a huge upgrade from your old 7600GT. However, for near the same price the Radeon 5670 can be had and is even more powerful:

I feel the GTX 460 is probably still way out of your price range. The DX10/11 support isn't needed for the games you mentioned, but the Radeon 5670 does support it them if curious.

Yes, that does look like a pretty good deal, and it does support DirectX 11 games. While that's not a big issue now, it might be in the future.
