Graphics Explanation on Bethesda.net

Exactly. A lot of what they describe in the new engine features is doing exactly what the ENBs did before. So now all of that is native to the game.

This is what really stuck out to me as cool. "Dynamic Dismemberment using tessellation. That last part is important. Basically, what they are saying is that when you blow or cut off limbs, unlike in Fallout 3 and Skyrim where they came apart at specific joints, now, the limbs will be hacked or blown off where you hit the enemy. Like in Dead Space. Tessellation let's them deform the geometry to make it look good using textures where-ever you sliced off a limb.

Massive gap between Skyrim ultra and these FO4 screenshots, I'd revise that down to 25-35.

True, but 2560 x 1600 is pretty demanding. So, all in all, I'm pretty confident about that. I've always noticed on my Nvidia cards that I never need more than 2x AA and if there is an issue turning shadows to medium fixes it.

Pretty cool shaders. I knew about screen space reflections from a leaked pic that showed the FO4 graphical settings. I'm glad the list mentioned something about the fog. It seems like I was the only one who noticed the cool mysterious atmospheric fog while everyone was busy thrashing the visuals.

I wonder why Todd didn't mentioned this list of cool shaders during his presentation. It could have definitely added more excitement and help the marketing even more not to mention it could have minimized the graphics "fiasco" we are having now. Being too secretive can lead to problems later on as we have seen.

I had that happen yesterday, just give it some time and try again. Maybe the page is seeing a lot of traffic here a week prior to release.

To be fair to you, I'm not taking into account Bethesda's predilection towards sweeping vistas, which are resource hogs.

Yeah well, I just said that because since hopping to the new consoles, the demands have multiplied so there's a big jump compared to previous three Bethesda games. This is like a Morrowind to Oblivion jump.

32MB Direct3D card with 500mhz P3 for Morrowind... 128mb Direct3D for Oblivion with 2GH processor.

Oh, the days. :shifty:

And it's still confusing people to this day!

Games For Windows is simply the label that is (still) slapped on PC games. GFW.

Games For Windows Live was the related DRM platform, which is indeed dead and gone.

So when you see GFW, don't worry, it's NOT GFWL.

I definitely would not say that...ENB's are a lot more and will be definitely be released.

Unless Beth adds custom graphics and presets ENB's will still be developed.

Apparently he/she missed the fact that I typed GWL not G"F"WL.

HBAO+ is a more advanced ssao which looks better and it actually has better performance. Too bad they didn't use this type of ssao. But I'm glad it has ssao anyways because a game without ssao looks flat. In your case, hopefully there's a setting to turn off ssao to gain extra fps. Or better yet, hopefully the ssao is a performance type ssao. Far Cry 3 had several ssao's to choose from.

The pictures are really beautiful and atmospheric. I like the one where this lonely wrecked car, with its rich yellow color, stands out beautifully amidst the STALKER-like depressing and mysterious atmosphere.

I think I will try it with the 680 first anyway. Hopefully Pascal arrives at about the same time as mods start to drag down my 680. :brokencomputer:

The t-51 armor picture looks really well done. The graphics tech in general [as expected] is impressive.
