Graphics Issue - Kaleidoscope

Post » Sun Apr 21, 2013 1:01 pm

Hey all!

I have been having this issue with Skyrim for quite awhile now. I don't think it has anything to do with any mods that I have installed. Sometimes it looks as if I am looking through a kaleidoscope when playing Skyrim and it's quite annoying. I am running the "High Res Texture Packs" everything is pretty much maxed out except shadow which I have on medium. The game has the current patch. Drivers are current. I run the game at 1920x1080 on one monitor not dual. Most of the time I get 60 FPS but every once in a while I will get a temp drop in FPS when I am leaving from the inside of a building to the Skyrim world or when I am in some town because I use the "Towns and Villages Enhanced" Mod but I've gotten this issue even with that mod unistalled, so I know it is't that mod.

Here are my specs for my computer (I built this machine a few years ago and I can't imagine this is caused by any hardware issues such as my GPU's but I'll post specs anyways.

Monitor: Samsung S27A550H 27" x2 (Dual Monitors) MB: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe B3
CPU: Intel i7 2600k 3.4GHz (OC'd @ 4.4GHz) & Corsair Hydro H60 CPU Cooler HD: Crucial C300 128GB SSD (C Drive) & WD Caviar 1TB 7200RPM x 2 (Storage) GPU: EVGA 460GTX 1GB SC EE X2 SLI RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1648MHz & PSU: Corsair 850HX

Here are 3 pictures too help show you what I am talking about.

Could be driver issues, could be your video card is faulty or failing or overheating, could be a mod conflict, could be corrupt files, could be the graphics cards control panel settings overriding and conflicting with the games settings.

Have you tried installing older or newer video card drivers (use driver sweeper http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.html to make sure all of the previous driver version files are deleted before installing a different driver version to avoid any potential conflicts). Sometimes newer or newest drivers are not always the best to use.

Have you checked the video cards control panel to see if any setting is set to override the games settings.

Have you checked if your video card is running hot, have you overclock the video card.

Have you completely removed the mods to make sure its not a mod conflict. If the issue goes away when you remove the mods, try installing a single mod at a time to see which one causes the issue. Are the mods up to date, have you tried redownloading then and reinstalling them to make sure none of the mods have corrupt data.

Could be a corrupt game file somewhere, have you tried to verify game cache
