graphics on xbox vs pc

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 9:08 pm

I used to have a PC.

End of the day I have a console now because I can stick the CD in turn it on and play the game with little to no issues.
Can't say I EVER had that luxury with the PC. Sure the graphics are better... for six months until you need to spend what a console is worth to upgrade the thing to play the latest games. Anyone who argues this is contradicting their whole point about PC gaming.

In short, yes the graphics on PC are better. Is it worth it, no.

If the gameplay is good, its good regardless of the graphics. If you're obsessed with graphics go watch a [censored] square enix movie and stop being a nuisance here.

What an uneducated and uninformed post.

Haha I'm not THAT concerned with graphics, but I was just interested to know the difference, I would be leaning on xbox anyway. I just didn't want to feel i was missing out on something in terms of graphics, but I guess when it comes down to it, what I'm super keen about the is gameplay. So yeah, leaning on xbox anywayz. And I completely agree about just being able to stick in the CD and play, unless you have a lot of money to spend on computers etc (which I don't) consoles are always going to be the way to go, in my opinion anyway.

None the less, I am still undecided...

And if I get it on PC, the added bonus is that I could get it overseas :P Thats assuming they sell it in China, which for some reason I doubt...

Are you going to elaborate on that, or are you just going to sit there feeling all superior for no good reason?

Fact is, you do need to upgrade and deal with the associated issues of frequent software updates. Console is easier and straight forward with a couple of easily ignorable downsides if you aren't obsessed with shiny objects.

If you've got a good PC then there is no contest.

and would you therefore consider this spec good

Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel i5 2500k Quad Core
4GB Samsung RAM DDR3
NVIDIA 1.25GB GTX 570
2X 1TB WD Caviar Black Hard Drives

.... I know what I think but for others as a reference would they need something better or not even as good... I will be getting it on PC, me thinks..... Simples

As you're running Windows 7 and not Vista, that is enough RAM - Skyrim (like most games) shouldn't use more than 2GB of RAM, and your OS will use another 1GB, so you will have enough to spare there. An i5 quad core proccessor will be more than enough to run it - most good dual cores would run it on medium settings, so a medium/high range quad core will rip it up. You 1.25 GB graphics card (and the fact it is a GTX 570) will definetly be good enough, and your 2TB of HDD space is most definetly enough.

@The OP, don't get the XBOX version. Sure, at the moment your PC and the 360 version will look similar. BUT, when you get a better PC (even if it is in 3 or 4 years time) then it will be able to run it looking better, and most importantly YOU CAN GET MODS ! There is a huge wealth of mods for Oblivion on the PC - one of the reasons it's one of the best games of all time. They add SO much more content than just the original game, it is most definetly worth it.

I thought it was pretty self-explanatory. Why make any final decisions on which version to get so far away from release? New, unexpected information can come to light that may affect a final decision. It's both being a smart shopper and simple common sense.

Please try to be a little more superior and think before you post

It won't look crap, but it will by comparison. My lack of a powerful enough PC is the reason I'll have to wait another two months past the release date - I'd rather wait until January when I can afford to buy a PC that isn't an aging laptop that squeezes just a few frames per second out of Oblivion with tlb switched than play an RPG without my lovely keyboard and mouse. <3

No it will look the same. forget the technical stuff in the end it will look the same just like oblivion, fallout 3 and nearly every other multiplatform game does, sure if you put two screenshots together there might be a barely noticeable colour change or something but thats it.

(ps3 did have some annoying jaggy issues with oblivion though...)

Ever heard of money? Yeaaah... Since my brother needs "support" in his life since he now lives by himself.. so to speak aand my parrents and me can't afford to buy one of those 1000 dollar Gaming PCs.....And they still wouldn't buy it even if they had the money....

I never saw the upside of mods? How much content could they possibly add, I've played the game a few times over and only ever used a few armour mods ...?

The PC version will look better.

That being said, don't expect a day and night difference.

Mods could change that. Speaking of mods, here is what I would do: Get the 360 version. Wait for the inevitable GOTY edition, then get that on PC. There should be plenty of good mods by then.

lol thats the exact thing i do

I've played hundreds of hours on both the PS3 and PC versions of Oblivion. The PC has better resolution, much better draw and view distances and probably has larger textures. That being said, the PS3 version wasn't that far off the PC one and the small differences hardly spoil the experience.

Oblivion was released over 5 years ago. The average PC system (and graphics cards) has improved considerably in those 5 years.

Who cares.... "I care!" yea I know you do but overall it does not matter, the graphics in Skyrim are set on everything equal and I would say 360 and PS3 would be better in a way becuase 95% of people do not have a $800 to $1000 gaming computer. I can play Oblivion on highest settings but it still lags alot. For those with a good computer more power to you becuase you can handle it smoothly oh! You also get with mods....

let me ask all the console owners a few questions...

1. How many 360/ps3 have you purchases since the release?

2. How much have you spent on accessories?

For computer users.... how many times have you had to upgrade your computers and buy new ones just to meet game standards and requirements?
Not starting a vs. war here, just saying. I own and play on both anyways....

Well I've bought one console and zero accessories, but I'm guessing its down to personl preference anyway.

I need a PC for other things that I have to do in my life. So owning a PC is not an option for me.

Since I also enjoy playing games on my computer, I get a computer that can handle the graphics.

Since I need a decent PC for doing other things, it doesn't cost me much more to get one that can handle my games.

My PC is 4 years old. I upgraded my original graphics card with a better one when the original one died last year.

Two. My old one had broke, so I upgraded to an elite over the Christmas 09 holiday period. Had my elite since then with no problems. Spent something like 200-220 pound on it, and it came with two games.

Nothing. Got a second hand wired charger thingy, but I had enough store credit to cover the cost.

I have a netbook to cover my computing/internet needs, and even that cost me more than a new 360 or PS3 would have done.

PC will always have superior graphics over consoles. I can't afford a good PC so i have no choice but to get it for the 360.
