[RelzBeta] Gratuitous Violence

Updated the mediafire link again. Now GV includes a lock bashing system to help out warrior-type characters. I also doubled the max arrow velocity. This version includes a new method for handling the attachment scripts so it should hopefully crash less often now, specifically when loading saved games (needs more testing).

I encountered a funny bug. But as unexperienced in modding as I am, I cannot determine what causes it. Seing how GV is the last mod installed (and I had nothing like this before), I assume it's some sort of a conflict with a different mod.

Was playing around with a bow shooting this nord that you meet between Caldera and Ald Ruhn. Sometimes when I hit him with an arrow, he'd spawn a headless naked redguard female named 'NoName'. Any advice on what may be causing this?

Yeah that's a known bug with the "Pursuit Enhanced" mod. The author posted a fix for it in the readme I included with the download. Just look in the "Extra GV Files" folder for the Pursuit Enhanced readme. I'm going to see if I can't find some solution to that little problem later on today.

But I don't have Pursuit Enhanced mod! I disabled it BEFORE installing GV in the first place.
Opening save with Wrye Mash has no result - the save file does not even have Pursuit Enhanced.

Pursuit Enhanced is one of the mods that has been incorporated into GV :P . So you are actually running with an edited version of the mod as long as you are running GV.

Alright, thanks for the update ) Readme said to delete Pursuit Enhanced from the save file using Wrye Mash, but it's not there.

Then you would delete GV in place of it. Basically anywhere it mentions PE use GV instead.

Edit: Another new test version is up. The known bugs for the Pursuit Enhanced portion of GV should now be fixed.

A great effort, I wonder, did you perhaps take some of the inspiration for your changes from skyrm? I can't wait to see how this will turn out. Oh, if you merged pursuit enhanced with this mod, you should be aware that there is a bug with it that causes a bunch of headless naked redguards to spawn sometimes if you assault an npc.

Yes, both Skyrim and Oblivion inspired me to make a few specific parts of this mod. And I believe that I have fixed the headless naked redguard problem with the latest update to GV. So now you get the features of Pursuit Enhanced without the bugs.

I read the readme of this mod. it says that it conflicts with Galsiah's Character Development mod. Is it anything specific?

As far as I can tell it seems to really only have trouble with the way GV handles blocking. I'd suggest using http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=9491 in its place for now. It seems to run smoother along side GV in general, but it still has issues with the blocking.

Current version of the mod causes my game to crash on loading from in game. So basically I can start the game and load it, but if I get killed, or if I want to quickload or just load a save game from within the game, it always crashes. Doesn't crash when GV is disabled.

Did you download the "updated beta" version from the Mediafire link? I believe that is supposed to fix the crashing.

I believe so, I have the latest Mediafire file installed. It did fix the crashing while playing, but it crashes while loading a save game from in game.

Unfortunately, some references handled by the scripts that use MWSE can not be loaded efficiently, and that is why the game tends to crash. These references should be deleted before creating or loading a saved game. Perhaps that is the problem.
I do not know if Wolvman has managed to solve this. Fliggerty know more about it.

That's odd. Because it really shouldn't be crashing much during loading anymore. If anything the most crashing should be occurring during gameplay. I've been playing with the latest mediafire version now a little each day and I usually only crash about 1 out of every 10 saved game loadings which is a great improvement over the previous versions. Is it anymore frequent than that for you guys?

Dang it, looks like it's back to the drawing board again. I'll try to come up with another alt fix. Next release should also include general wound penalties that will make it harder to fight at lower health for an extra touch of realism. I'll include an option to turn that feature on and off for those that don't wish to play with it though.

Not yet, college is hitting me pretty hard right now. I'll be able to work full-fledged on it again in about a week or two. I'm not sure what I'll be able to release until then.

I think I've found the conflict that caused my game to crash. I disabled Galsiahs Character Development and it's not crashing anymore.

UPD at least for a while. Crashing is back for no apparent reason. This svcks (

That's great to hear. I hope that day comes sooner rather than later  .

I believe that it is due to the fact that I have to make every one of the attachment related scripts reset and turn off every time the player loads a saved game, and then turn back on once the game has loaded. If one of them doesn't reset correctly and turn off when it should, it crashes your game. It's pretty infuriating since there are very few ways to get scripts to do this and GV is already using the most acceptable method that I know of (which is using invisible journal entries). So now I've got to go through and look at each individual script again to see if I can somehow improve upon a system that may not be possible to improve any further and that should already be working correctly :stare: .

That fact of the matter is, there might be the chance that the particular functions of MWSE that GV uses for its attachment scripts may be partially broken, and that it might not be possible to get a completely crash free version of GV until fixes for those functions arise or alternative functions are created ( via OpenMW/Project Aedra ). I can't say for sure since I don't have the knowledge to crack open MWSE and look for myself but I'm quite limited when confined to simple scripting functions and I'm running out of options as far as fixing the crashes goes. But this definitely isn't to say that I'm giving up anytime soon, especially with how hard I find it to play MW without this mod.
