Do you think the gray cowl of Nocturnal will be in Skyrim?

Possible. Could be a reward for Nocturnal's shrine quest (if there is one).

It would be super awesome to be a cyborg ninja with a katana and a laser arm gun thing!
...oh wait, wrong game series...
Well the TES Gray Fox is pretty boss too.

Oh god no, I Hated that thing in Oblivion, Sure you could get away with crimes if you wanted to be Good Character but, I Was an Evil Character so it was pretty much useless to me.

Go play Oblivion

Seriously though, maybe as an easter egg or a difficult quest reward. But I don't really care.

Maybe, I could live without it though, especially if having it means the thieves guild quest line ends more or less the same way as in Oblivion.

honestly i think the cowl could use a makeover.... physical and use.

i think it was too OP in oblivion. now to take in consideration how it should be remade we first must look at its original purpose. wearing the cowl made you become the grey fox, and all crimes you committed while wearing it were pinned on the fox. after taking it off you were free of all crimes no matter the severity.

now how about the cowl has a type of threshold, where the magic can only take on so much of the crimes you commit. and if you breach that threshold ALL the crimes you have committed while wearing it are put on you. now to keep the mask from being completely useless in that since there should be a way wipe the slate so to say. i think that if you keep it in your inventory and preform "noble" acts it could counter the crimes on it and take them off of it. that way a good character can still be bad when needed, and keep their name clean. BUT they must also keep in check the amount of crimes placed on the foxes name or else they well gain his crimes.

now noble acts could be things like doing good quests, giving money to the poor, or any type of charity that the game may offer. the greater the deed the more is wiped from the mask.

now crimes of course should have different ranks on the cowl. the lower ones being stealing while the higher ones being murder.

i think this would be a fair and balanced way to make the cowl less OP.

the balancing could be done by a new updated fame and infamy system.

Hope not.

I'd like them to come up with another fairly original item instead

That sort of balancing takes the lore behind it out back and shoots it like Old Yeller.

I hated being the grey fox in OB since you can't wear it in a city without hordes of guards running. Then again the auto detect should be fixed in Skyrim.. But again I don't like the idea of the curse striking the owner's name from history.

i hope there is a cowl but no gray fox. really looking forward to the new thieves guild questline not including his pompous ass this time around! and guards shouldnt chase you for wearing it anymore. i mean, they shouldnt have a reason to.

I'd welcome a new awesome unique item in its place, but I dont see why those two things would have to be exclusive

If the Grey Cowl of Nocturnal returns, I really hope it has been significantly changed. That thing was bloody hideous.

I'd honestly hope so, if the thieves guild is the same branch as the one in oblivion then it would make sense for it to be passed down. I also think it'd be cool to have something your Oblivion character wore :D

It would make a great easter egg as a ripped, magicless piece of clothing found in the basemant of some manor. I don't want it to be a reward this time around.

Iffy. This is years after Oblivion. Maybe the Cowl died with the hero of cryodiil

you can't really say that because the gray fox wasn't a quest that you had to do to finish the main quest line.
