Great Game horrible character creation

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 7:34 am

I love the game, just as I have enjoyed all of the Elders Scroll Games. However, Bethesda must have the worst artists in the world to create the character images. I play the game and enjoy it until I look at my character and want to throw up! It is really off putting. What is the point of striving for nice armor if you put it on this horrible creature that is your char?
OK, some people like ugly looking chars but heck, can't there be just ONE good looking one for each class in the bunch?

The elves all look like aliens and look like they have bitten into a lemon and try real hard to look like the devil.
chose eyes - you can have two 'blind' white holes, two black holes, left eye blind, right eye blind, bloodshot red eye period
noses- you have overly large nose, you have giant nose, you have large knobbly nose, you have tiny flat nobbly nose, you have long skinny nose running straight down from forehead, period
etc etc etc

I guess the artists making the chars are sons/daughters of the bosses and had to be put to work on something and nobody dares say anything in the co.
It svcks!

The only reasonable ones are Nord and perhaps Redguard. But if you want to be a mage or Rogue you are stuck with aliens!

I like the way my Argonian Conjurer looks. In fact, I like how most all the characters look. They fit the games setting very well.

I also quite like my character. Only played around with Altmer in the character generator so far, but to me it seems like it can produce some good creations :)

Yeah I think they screwed up the elves big time. Altmer should look fair faced and beautifal not like hobgoblins.

You clearly svck at using the character creator then, because I've found it relatively easy to make a good looking character with every race. In fact, I think the character creator is top notch. I've actually found it difficult to make a truly bad-looking character.

Who cares what race you pick? The racial benefits are not gamechanging really

I have managed the impossible. An attractive character. I kid you not. It took me a while (about 1 and a half hours) messing around with the character creator. But I did it.

I would like more changes available in character creation, but the feel and look of the current ones is great.. the options given pretty much give the look people in a fantasy world like this should have.

Wow, how close-minded can you get? I don't get it how players like you can't get immensely interested in this game, enough to where you complain about what you don't really see more then half the time you play.

But you know what? Just wait a little bit. The young stupid anime-ish cutsey mods will be out to ruin the game soon enough. Until then, just enjoy what you have and quit complaining what you know can change in the future. Sorry for seeming agressive, but come on buddy, open your mind a bit. Bethesda has done sooooo much to staisfy us, or try to. They deserve a little more credit. :\

No, but they seem to be much more useful than the Oblivion racial benefits. Highborn magicka regen has saved my life a number of times :tes:

It is very capable of making attractive characters. I for one am just happy that character's faces have bone structure now and aren't flabby sacks of dough like in Oblivion.

i think the elves are suppost to be ugly, i don't know that i would be a good judge for making attractive characters, i made a wolverine nord once i saw the super bushy sideburns. I'm just glad you can make thinner faces, in ob i always ended up with fat faced characters

The level of control you have over the face/char gen is a step down from Oblivions'. But the tone isn't all messy.

There are things I miss in the character creation:

-Age slider would have been nice

-More hair choices. Sadly I don't like long hair on men and they look kind of girly. Where are the short hair options?

-Which comes to my next topic, hair length slider

-Customizable hair color slider

-----------------------

I said this before Skyrim is just a bunch of presets you get to change minor things on. Skyrim's customization should have been the baby of Fallout 3 and Oblivion. That "playdough" in Oblivion made it very easy to craft faces, when you got the hang of it I made some very grand characters in Oblivion. Skyrim should have more face crafting tools to get what I want. No randomization of the preset face. No randomization of the features of the face. It's just chose this preset.

They really too a step back to early 2003 RPG customization with this game.

I think they did a rather good job with character looks and creation this time around. Oblivion and Fallout, however.... no.

Are you kidding? The game has the best Character creation ever seen in an Elder scrolls game , You can enlarge even the size of the muscles of the characters , the elves look exactly as they shoul and always looked in the ES series if not better , and also finally for once the hairs do not disappear when wearing helmets ... what you want more ? :) ... I'd say just more options are always welcome like body tattoes ,piercings etc....

but this time the character artists did really great ...

I'd say it's the best character creator yet, just not as in-depth as before, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. IMO they should add one of them "Randomize" buttons, or have I missed something xD?
