Great. 15+ hours wasted. This is B.S.

Besides the issues I've had earlier: (Completed unmarked quest Midnight Ranch Attacks and no dialog option to inform Dusty. "Did you find anything?" Only option is no.
I've also had 4 crashes when entering Freeside which resulted in my Xbox freezing as well as several other Quest breaking bugs, NPC's being stuck in ceiling's, walls, rocks and constant frame rate drop after roughly an hour of game play.)

Several of my game saves are now corrupt and when I load the ones that are not the game instantly freezes. I can only deal with so much. This is complete bullsh*t. This goes way beyond anything that's acceptable. I know we are a week out but the game is flat out unplayable. What is being done about this and when can I expect to be able to play my $60 game again? The myriad of complaints listed on this forum or mentioned in the majority of reviews is overwhelming. It's just a f*cking shame.

For what it's worth, I have the same glitch in the brahman stakeout. There's no option to inform Dusty, even though I have a note explaining what's going on which I stole from the culprit (who, as part of the glitch, just stands there by the pens doing nothing, cloaked).

One thing I tremendously hate is when people try and tell the people who are having immense game problems that 'we're only a week in, give it time'. NO! Don't fall for that crap because there shouldn't be a period where we should give it 'time'. The time we gave it is when it was being made. We shouldn't need to give it a couple weeks because the game should not have had any of these game-breakers to begin with. It's a shame indeed because I've been a super fan of :fallout: since the first one. And none of them ever had problems like this (Fallout3 had some bugs and the occasional freeze but never anywhere near the level of problems that New Vegas has).

Damn straight! I also hate the excuse people use saying all huge games like this are bug riddled. It is true that bigger games like this are bound to have more bugs I don't recall TES scrolls series and Fallout3 having detrimental game-breaking/blocking glitches and bugs that render the game unplayable. Their argument would be sound if Fallout New Vegas had stupid bugs that didn't break your game and ruin your save files. But instead FNV has game-breakers that block you from playing and these specific glitches and bugs are the types that usually end up preventing a game from releasing so that is definitely multiplying the bad reputation Obsidian is getting.

Now I'm reading news reports on how Obsidian is on to their next project or how they celebrated the release of F:NV. How about fixing this game before your on to the next one. The response from the Dev's just seems really underwhelming for the severity of the issue. I hope they come through with some kind of reparation. Some of the posts here about how Obsidian doesn't owe us anything is just plain ridiculous. Idiotic fanboyism akin to religious fanaticism.

Yeah, did you see the post I put in that thread? "I bet Robert Lee and his cohorts rushed the game just so they can get their fat hands on some free cake sooner."

Yeah, pretty crappy to pay to beta test a game, even when they get all the kinks worked out this will still leave a very sour taste in people's mouths as far as Obsidian is concerned.

An easy way to fix thos bugs is (if your on the 360) to install NV to your Hard drive, this fixed alot of my problems, but mine were mostly freezing ups and the occasional glitch. Either way, installing NV to the HD fixed thos and now I'm in my 30th or so hour of playing and no freeze'ups or glitches.

Beta testing a game, especially an open beta, doesn't work very well for a single player game since everyone will end up doing everything there is to do in the beta and never buy the game because they already burnt themselves out on it. Things like this are best saved for a multiplayer since those bugs benefit more from open betas and people will want to keep playing the multiplayer (if it is good).

I installed it to my hard drive as soon as I got the game and it didn't help at all unfortunately. Even deleted and re-installed on my second disc and no fix. Looks like you got lucky with that fix.

I just don't see how any of the journalists that reviewed the game didn;t ever have any game breaking corrupts, sure i read about the freeze ups requiring restarts and clipping bugs, but noone gave the game a 3 out of 10 due to the fact he couldn't continue..

now i am on my 2nd try after losing my 1st playthrough, and reading about all of us that have had the same problems, i'm thing, "are the journalists payed off?" or if not paid off, "discouraged" by their editor not to write too bad a review?

when Toyota released the cars without brakes, that was a big deal- and i think to a lesser extent so is this! (because i doubt anyone will actually die form gamesave corruption! lol)

I completely agree. The community isn't pissed off enough and it's giving the message that developers can just keep doing this. It's completely screwed up and it's basically showing what we have in store in the future. Not to mention Obsidian's already rusty reputation with their games.

I agree with most of this as well. We already know that Game Informer is bribed to right good reviews about higher hyped games. But I have to disagree with the death from these bugs because Fallout New Vegas' various game-breakers has given me cancer.

Quite possible is that the reviews are written before the reviewer has finished the game ( as they all want to be out with their text as soon as the NDA lifts to get as much visitors to their sites as possible. ) Otherwise I can′t see any explanation for all the high scores, not for such a buggy product. Maybe honesty is a lost cause when it comes to game-journalism?

Not just game-journalism. Just turn on your local newscast tonight. Chances are, they will run a report on their toy/health/etc section featuring expert interviews on the subject matter. These are usually (and this is NOT exaggerating) canned pieces of video supplied by a private company with the aim of promoting their products. Being in the toy industry, I know first hand that "mom experts" that are guests on talk shows and local newscasts are often compensated by toy companies to bring their products on air. Plus, remember that magazines/blogs often make their revenue off ad-sales. A company would be hesitant to run their ads on a platform that also runs negative comments about their product.

They can keep doing this all they want. I've bought my last Obsidian game. They somehow have the ability to be handed a perfectly viable game engine (Fallout 3, Knights of the Old Republic, Etc.) and by the time their sequel hits retail, it's a buggy, (sometimes unfinished in the case of Kotor II) disaster.
