Great House Rewards

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:15 am

Everyone supports Morrowind as a great game. But, rewards appear to be unbalanced. The Telvanni quests will eventually give you a Daedric Curiass and Daedric Greeves. Each item will be enchanted with a constant effect of Feather 50pts for a total of Feather 100pts. No other faction gives you such a reward. If you kill Therana, she doesn't even drop them. Plus, they don't exist in the containers within the room. So, How can she give them as a reward? Did she summon them out of thin air? She's old -- but not a God. These type of flaws are hard to ignore and ruin the fun.

Now, the Hlaalu never award anything truly helpful.

The Redoran, whom you think would hook you up with some decent armor, give you crap too. What's up with that?

Another thing, if Therana can enchant daederic armor in such a way, the player should be able to as well.

That's why I always go with Telvanni. I never thought of them as being unbalanced, I just accepted that they were the better of the three.
Therana gives them to you because it's scripted, I guess. She's old, very old. Ancient, and a little senile. So if you want to use your imagination, she conjured them. Which is why you can't, because you don't have a thousand years or more under your belt.

Ever heard of the Theory of Hammerspace? :P

Yes, the rewards for Telvanni are much better than the other Houses. What do you expect? They are considered the masters of enchanting and spellcasting on Vvardenfell.

Hlaalu gives alot gold. Infact they are pretty much throwing it at you from a huge bag for doing easy quest. But telvanni does give the best rewards and i love them for it.

QFT. Being a member of House Redoran is its own reward.

If you want stuff, join another Great House.

Never joined Hlaalu myself, mostly because I don't like the Drens much.

Most people don't even do Theranas quest anyway. And who uses Daedric armor?

The majority of my characters have been Redoran. Besides the rewards [one was ebony boots] I managed to pick up a lot of loot along the way. Ebony armor from Gordol, for instance, and daedric weapons, and the loot from the other illegal House strongholds. More than a few time I ended up using intervention or recall because my pc was hauling too much stuff, plus it was more fun than having stuff handed to me. I considered the lack of monetary rewards more in keeping with the "duty and honor" thing, I guess.

Redoran gives you rewards that you have to work towards more than the other houses, but they svck untile later

Hiallu gives you better short term rewards, best suited for someone just starting the game like the large amount of gold you get in your first mission in Balmora if your not a beast race

Telvanni gives you the best rewards, but if your not a mage some (Only SOME) are useless

Ebony armor is easy to get. There is a Daedric Shrine near Ald Velothi with an NPC wearing a full suit of ebony. I have never had a reason to go there. It was discovered on accident.

I know many of you don't feel the way I do. The story means more to you. But, the whole game should have been more like firemoth. You may enjoy being sent from one place to another like a little errand boy. I don't. Many of the side missions can be completed without ever using violence. This makes it very difficult to gain levels -- which is probably why trainers are everywhere. You could hang out in the wild killing rats, scribs, nixhounds, cliff racers, ets to raise skills. That get old pretty quick.

Basically, what everyone is agreeing to is the following.
Hlaalu gives you better money --- They are the business people
Telvanni gives better magic items and have the best rewards -- They are primarily mages.
Redoran gives you the best armor -- However, this reward can be easily obtained by other means.

The amulet of shadows reduces the amount of violence required in the game. The character disposition plays a huge factor in peaceful solutions as well.

Not only are the Telvanni rewards better, but the presence of such mods as Rise of the Telvanni offers excellent roleplaying opportunities for the house. Sorry to say that nothing quite along those lines exists for the other houses or guilds.

well, lgnpc adds quite a bit to redoran members, it also states you can?t loot the armor after a duel, on the other hand another redoran quest sends you into that shrine at ald velothi, not all the way to the dude in ebony armor but you can take the trip anyway :D
you get an ebony helmet when you saved someones grand daughter, and the boots was already mentioned, you also get an ebony spear in redoran, and a glass sword.

True, and this isn't meant as a slam against LGNPC Pax Redoran, which is damn good. And I personally like the LGNPC series a lot--hell, I contributed to two of the early ones. But if you check out Rise of the Telvanni, it actually lets you decide how much the Telvanni will expand, what their diplomatic stance will be versus the Mage Guild, and a number of other factors. If you throw in Uvirith's Legacy, you've got a house you can customize to an extraordinary extent. Each adds dozens of quests, and there a variety of new characters.

I'd love to see Redoran get the same kind of treatment Telvanni already has--better still, I'd like to see a mod that lets you play perform missions for any of them, upsetting the balance with actual results in the game. But that would be next to impossible to achieve.

well put, it is some time since I played telvanni to be honest, but it sounds very good, hell-it makes me a desire to play telvanni again, and my "evil" chars can be telvanni,so I will give it a go after this :)
about expand redoran as telvanni gets in those mods you described, seems hard but guess one could hope, until then I?m quite happy with pax redoran and the others, thought of putting silgrad tower in for more redoran stuff, but there telvanni have tamriel rebuild, bugger ;)

You even get a companion from Telvanni. And they don't have a heart attack if you're a vampire.
You just can't top that!

There is no such thing as honor only general rep, the rep gained from either houses is around the same.

Its a sense of Honor, and doing something that seem like the member is helping out. Its more of a roleplaying thing.
