Great Welkynd Stone and the Tiber Septim Armor

Post » Wed Aug 10, 2011 1:24 pm

I'm currently doing the Aid for Bruma quest, and have completed the quest to get Tiber Septim's armor, but I have not delivered the armor to Martin yet. I was going to return to Bruma after gathering allies, and complete it all at once.

Well, I was on my way from Skingrad to Anvil, and I went into an Aylied Ruin along the way, and found a Great Welkynd Stone. Having never found one in my gaming before, I went on UESP to check out what it was, and found that it's for the main quest. I also found that, if you find the Great Welkynd Stone before you're actually given that quest, and you turn in the Welkynd Stone at the same time as the Tiber Septim armor, there is a glitch where Martin doesn't actually put on the Tiber Septim armor, thus making the Defense of Bruma quest rather difficult.

Now, I am not playing on PC where I can mod or use console, I'm on the X-Box 360. Is there any kind of workaround I can use in this situation that will get Martin to wear the armor? Or anything I can do that will make the Defense of Bruma quest not incredibly tedious and obnoxious, seeing as how it's seemingly more difficult to keep Martin alive due to this glitch?

maybe drop the welkynd stone before talking to Martin about the armor. except its a quest item so you cant drop it... i dont know. reload a previous save i guess.

I don't see the problem. Give the armour to Martin and he will ask you the Great Stone, handle it to him. Martin is NOT suppose to wear the armour now. He needs it to recover some blood on it for the ritual. He will open a portal to Paradise. It's only after your return from Paradise with the Amulet that Martin is wearing the armour.

Oh I see. You are afraid that this glitch might happen after your return from Paradise. In one of my games I handled both armour and great stone together to Martin and I didn't have any glitch later. I'm on PC. Maybe you should reload a saved game as you cannot drop the stone. Sorry that I can't help.

yea the problem is when you talk to him he takes both. since there is no time between them the script telling him to put the armor on doesnt have time to run. It may have not been a problem for you if you have the unofficial patch.

No, the problem occurs earlier, in the Defense of Bruma. If you give the Great Welkynd Stone and the Armor to Martin at the same time, he won't be wearing the armor at the battle of the Great Gate, and he's much more vulnerable. The bug is fixed by the UOP for PC, but still exists, of course, on console.
