Greatest crafting system ever made

Post » Thu Sep 22, 2011 6:20 pm

It's been confirmed that the crafting is so deep that for example a guy who played the demo said he killed a wolf took his hide mined some gold in a cave and craft a gold dagger with wolf skin handle.

Now there are 13 different kind of ore (most of them are unknown),
There is alot of wild life and monsters.

Think of the possbilites .

Mammoth skin armor anyone?

It's immoral to tell us something so insanely amazing without a source.

I dont think this is true with everything we find, if even the OP is correct that is.

If the crafting system turns out the way the op said then that will probably be one of skyrims major ups.

Everything I've read points to it being the same stuff we can find that's craftable. The way I'm imagining it, you'll likely get the same result regardless of your materials. For instance, iron and leather or iron and wolf skin would produce the same iron sword.

I've got a feeling bethesda have deliberately told us the bare minimum... I reckon what we know so far is almost nothing... in 15 minute game demos players found those bandit rock throwers, wolf packs eating animals...

Is this just going to be the RL version of Tron? I sincerely hope so.

Gold dagger would be too soft to hurt much of anything. Wolf skin handle would be to flimsy to support anything. How is this great?

I can tell it won't be true, but by god that would be the best crafting system. I was hoping at each stage we got to select from a bunch of things to give our armour their own look and stuff, but if OP is speaking true that would be better.

Gold Dagger or Golden Dagger...there's a huge difference and either way gold should only be used for the deco on a weapon/armor, as it's very, very soft and very heavy :ermm: Well maybe gold in Nirn isn't the same as in the real world...but still, call it ghold then (or something)

Remember in shivering isles, you find amber and make amber armour? I reckon if they do that in skyrim it will be about the same as that. some preset types of weapon you can create if you have the pieces and the codex, or maybe blacksmithing perk to make armour out of loot. lolz pewter fork armour.

My money is on this too. Perhaps it names it seperately, that wouldn't take up a lot of resorces, but whether it's an Iron Longsword (leather grip) or Iron Longsword (wolf skin grip), they are all iron longswords with the same stats. Can't wait to find out!

They didn't throw the rock, it was a trap...like the many traps in Oblivion...you know liek when your in a cave and boulders tumble down on your head from a hole or hall?

thinking about it. Why make a blacksmithing skill if all you can do is hammer out a few iron long-swords (fable II).

If this is true - and that's a BIG if - then my excitement for the game just jumped up several more notches. Imagine how good the other crafting skills would have to be to match up to the scope of smithing!

EDIT: Thinking about it though, it still seems very unlikely. We know the smithing perks, and there's no mention of gold in it.

Another fun diversion and alternate way to get gear. I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. Crafting feels more like an added bonus than a robust game unto itself.
