Greaves and Cuirass merged into Armor Confirmed

Post » Tue Jul 05, 2011 3:43 am

This could either be very good, or very bad. I'm inclined towards bad, but who knows. It does mean less "mix and match" armor on bandits. Now, you get a nearly complete set with every find. From a modding perspective, that's bad. From a player perspective, that's good.

Frankly, I will be more upset to find that you can't wear armor over clothing, or robes over armor. I've long played MW characters that wore robes over light armor, and liked it that way. The single-piece armor is livable, so long as I can spice it up with a fancy robe or something.

I'm going to need confirmation before I believe they merged Greaves and Cuirass. The OP could be telling the truth but I've heard enough rumors about this topic to believe otherwise.

Oh no! I'm not going to pre-order or even buy this game now, I won't even look at it.. It disgusts me with it's lack of customisation... HOW DARE THEY!? HOW DARE THEY! Merge grieves and cuircass's together!? It is preposterous! Wait? We can have even more customisation via. smithery? That seems ok.. NO! Morrowind had pauldrons and I want pauldrons! Elder Scrolls is dying man! Game over! Game over TES! GAME OVER! I'm going to go back and play Morrowind and then make threads on how TES is dumbing down!

I jest of-course, but this whole TES being dumbed down to a version of Pong statement is getting rather annoying; even when they are obviously trying something new.

It's end in nuclear fire.

Can someone tell me why people can't discuss things without the massive amounts of rude sarcasm? I find it odd that people can't voice their concerns about a feature in the game that's been available since Daggerfall being taken out without someone having to be completely rude or disrespectful.

In TESVI, body armor will be 1 piece and head armor will be 1 piece. In TESVII, all armor will be one piece. In TESVIII, there is only 1 set of armor for the entire game and leveling is removed. In TESIX, the game will become completely linear.

Thus is the road that BGS is starting to take.

Nice.

I do like mixing greaves and cuirasses but it doesn't make or break the game for me. I will wait and see.

Going from Morrowinds armor customization to OB and now to Skyrims, his comment isn't ridiculous in the slightest, at least the first part isn't. And yes, we are complaining about somthing, its called customization.

More dumbing down. Now confirmed.

Another nugget of wisdom from Xarnac.

I don't think it really matters, the game will still play just fine.

Oh yes, I love to hear your opinion on things.
You see, I love to argue, and you're the ultimate anti-everything.

Like I've said, I think this will be one of those decisions we look back and say it was a mistake, like level scaling. I don't think the impact will be that harsh, though.

I didn't combine different sets of armor anyway but I DID enjoy going out and looking for each individual piece or saving up enough septims for each piece. The feeling of finally finding all of the pieces to some rare armor was quite rewarding. With this new system in place, I doubt I'll ever feel that brief moment of satisfaction again. >.<

Actually Im for things, not against. Im for all variation, customization, RP potential and gameplay variables. Which is more than can be said for most.

I think you're being a little extreme, I doubt you won't EVER feel it again, it'll still feel great to find the Helm, Armor, Boots, and Gloves as well as finding different weapons and items.

This is aggravating. I had hopes that Bethesda would learn from their mistakes with Oblivion's needlessly simple armor system. Apparently not only have they not learned from it, they're embracing the streamlining philosophy. I doubt smithing will compensate for this.
