Green Man Gaming Pre-Order

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 7:47 pm

Hey guys. According to the article below, you can pre-order Fallout 4 at Green Man Gaming by using a certain checkout code.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/get-fallout-4-star-wars-battlefront-black-ops-3-on/1100-6429975/

Just wondering the legitimacy of this type of thing. I've heard Green Man Gaming often sell cheap (although dodgy and possibly illegal) keys for games, but that it sometimes backfires on the consumer because their game gets blocked or something. It just seems strange that Green Man Gaming can afford, or would be willing to, sell FO4 for such a reduced price, so I'm sceptical.

So do you guys think this is a great opportunity, or something to be avoided?

I haven't really herd anything bad about Green Man. I did my pre-order at gamestop though, gotta have that physical copy.

I'm not aware of game keys from GMG getting blocked (not saying it never happened though), but I know of moments where people who pre-ordered from GMG didn't get the game at launch and are still waiting for their game key while the people who pre-ordered it elsewhere are playing it.

Green Man Gaming is entirely legitimate. I've been using them for years. They do not steal their keys or get them through illegal means. They get their keys straight from the developers/publishers. You can tell they are legitimate by all of their sponsors and the various partners they have (Bethesda Softworks being one of them). Websites such as G2A and kinguin, on the other hand, do acquire stolen keys and you risk losing your money and having your games removed by Steam.

The benefit to PC gaming is the fact there are no licensing fees and digital download allows you to avoid heightened prices from retail, thus it explains how PC games (even new) can be much cheaper than console games. Honestly, anyone paying $50-60 for a PC game is ripping themselves off. I never buy games on Steam. Valve is just cashing in making an insane profit.

I have always bought new games from GMG. I intend to wait for metal gear solid phantom pain to come out there before buying that one as well. They have my trust

While I have no problem paying $60 for a game I want RITE NAO (like Fallout 4), I also have no problem waiting for games to drop in price; Witcher-3, Dying Light, GTA-V and numerous older titles that are still $30 or more are on my Wishlist in case they drop in price.

Not sure why buying games on Steam is bad, though? I've gotten (old old old) games for like $1.99 there and such. Hard to beat that price, imo.

I've got Fallout-4 pre-ordered on STEAM just so that I know I can get it launch day; I originally ordered it from Amazon but their delivery of a physical box seemed less certain and I've already allotted vacation days from work so I have to get it when I 'know' I can get it. Much as I would like the physical box (non-collector's edition), there is also the advantage that I can always log onto Steam and download it in the future instead of scrounging around for a disk somewhere.

GMG got my pre-order for Fallout 4 the day they announced. Nothing like a months long wait to play a game you own...

Buying brand new games on Steam is bad. They are almost always maximum price at retail. It's a rip-off plain and simple. I'm not talking about Steam summer sale or winter sale, which honestly is overrated. Many digital distribution sites have the same prices if not better than Steam. I only buy on Steam if a game is only available through Steam.

So you are paying full price for Fallout 4 on Steam then. Why do that when you can get it cheaper at GMG (who will supply you with a Steam key before launch)? They have been doing vouchers for Fallout 4 for months. Honestly, the best thing to do is wait a week before the game comes out as that's usually when GMG does their 30-40% voucher. I just bought Mad Max for $36 on GMG because they released a 40% voucher a few days ago. You can't beat those prices. The only "benefit" you get to buying on Steam is the fact it will come up in your activity that you bought the game on Steam, if you want to call that a benefit.

Yeah, I don't buy major-release, first-day games on Steam..... I buy them at my local store, so I can have a disc, and so I don't have to download a billion GB of data. But I've got no problem paying for a good game that I'm really interested in. $50-60 is no more expensive than $40-50 was ten years ago, adjusted for inflation. I've used Greenman before with no problems and I'm using them for F4 too.
