Green Porrige Anyone?

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 10:16 pm

I had this game on preorder as I have a ps3 and we are starved for this game's type of fantasy content on that platform. I tried to find a nice collector's edition as Bethesda are wont to do with their title but alas the courier only had a vanilla edition to deliver with some as yet useless dlc. More on that later.
On setting the game up, I was taken aback by the lack of quality of the visuals. The textures seem to resonate with what has been described in gaming magazines for this kind of problem as "green porrige". A visiting friend asked me if the tv was set on hd which it is, so what is up with the awful grainy visuals? I've actually only played as far as the first village,as I'm finding I am at times having to squint to see my way through the levels.
A friend of mine works for a clothing company. He said they will release ranges of clothes with primo designs on them yet will also offer designs that wont sell as good due to lesser quality imagery yet will get sales hits because of the branding etc.
Now I'm not here to troll this game as I am enjoying other spects of it such as the swordplay and the cutscene I watched was on par with AAA titles, but I suppose is Bethesda releasing this game as filler if you like inbetween it's Fallout Vegas(which sadly I have given up on as it freezes my ps3 at least every half an hour to an hour, even with autosave set to off or on), and the visually stunning Skyrim which looks oh so smooth in the gameplay shots I have seen. This brings me on to the lack on any editions of Hunted. and supports my reasoning, which may be flawed, that the lack of any deluxe edoitions of the game is because it is a title that has a smaller marketing budget and less output to spend on its development.
I WILL be keeping Hunted Demon's Forge. Despite the issues with the graphics and what my friends whom watched me play it said, we have to little of this fare on ps3. The plot, always a no boner on video games due to their very nature, has intriqued me thus far to keep going. Plus I like Caddoc, he's cool and the fact I can play it online with m8s. I just need to find a soul to play it with as, down to lack of marketing, no one on my psn list has the game yet. I am even being asked what the hell am I playing. PM me procion on psn if you wish to team up. But be warned, I do not like to rush thru lvls but explore nooks and crannys for booty and easter eggs.
Now if only Skyrim had an option for co-op... peace

Looks perfectly fine on PC. Gotta love the ability to adjust graphics quality.

Wouldnt be surprised if they had to scale back the settings a lot to make the game run decent on PS3 as developers rarely code for the cell processor.

@ the OP

Bethesda did not devlop this title. InExile did. The only part that Bethesda is involved with is the Distrobution and Sales network nothing more. All of these folks asking Bethesda for extra content do not realize that it is not Bethesda calling the shots on this matter.

There May be a Future patch to clean up bugs and stuff but I wouldn't expect much more than this.

Cant say I have come across this problem on the 360 version. Maybe its not a very good port to the PS3 or something is wrong with the disc?

Other than that I am not sure what to suggest as to what the problem is.

The un-attractive graphics keep load times short. Which in my opinion kicks major ass.

Really? I fully recommend Dragonage2 to you then. A game with middling graphics, scripted multi-choice word-play, and it's major selling point: A whole 67% of total time in-game actually spent gaming, and a fun 33%(the remainder)spent yelling "HURRY THE FAQ UP" at loading screens, along with recycled maps which you get to re-exploe after each hefty loadu time, yet again(but the walls of the map's interiors are slatey grey this time, instead of adobe ochre colour, with added bits of shaggy moss crap strewn along the walls in a vain effort to try & hide the fact you are walking thru the same layout for the sixth time since yesterday)!
Two Worlds Two, a vast open world has dungeons and other load areas. The graphics are very nice to behold, yet the load times are fast. Maybe it's how the engine Hunted uses reacts to Ps3 and it's cell chip as mentioned above. I noticed the same green porrige effect in Enslaved at times, tho not so bad as Hunted. Perhaps they share an engine.
PS3 does have a rep as being none to easy to port to, yet it's exclusives suchas Uncharted2 Amongst Thieves and the upcoming inFAMOUS2 look absolutely stunning on the console, not to mention God of War3. I'm still keeping Hunted tho. It has far more good points than bad...
