So you're saying if SD put in OHK death lasers they wouldn't be ruining the game, but it would be my fault if I didn't wanna use it? I'm not saying they are gonna be unbalanced, I'm just voicing a concern and trying to learn more about what they do. People shouldn't be forced to choose a certain weapon or be underpowered. Again, not saying that is the case here, just saying many games have messed up the nade launcer before and it's one of the easiest weapons to have balancing issues with.
No, as a OHK death laser wouldn't be able to be properly implemented in Brink. But the GL, which is in Brink, appears to have the proper implementation based on it's purpose and the way the game function, but it could still ruin your day if you are unfortunate enough to be on the recieving end enough. It's a crowd control weapon, and does what it needs to control a crowd. It's up to the enemy team to determine a course of action to deal with it.
There are no decidedly overpowered weapons, just weapons that are more powerful than others in the proper situations. If you're afraid of the GL and you know the heavy down the hall has one, don't step into the hall, find another way around. The whole idea behind the variety in weapons, body types, abilities, etc. is that players have the tactical options that they are most comfortable with, and that none are at a major advantage over others.
