AI Grenade Spam

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 8:22 pm

Holy mother of god.

Grenades. So many grenades. I think someone put a zero too much on the enemy 'grenade_throw_%' stat because... wow. Just wow. I find it hard to believe a raider will carry 30 grenades around at any given moment, and it's even harder to believe they'd waste so much explosives on just 1 guy. LOOK AT THIS.

And yes, I am in my underwear. Just because I like it.

It can cause some laughs but on the other hand it's kind of a cheap way to kill off a player, isn't it?

I haven't had frag. grenades thrown at me like that but I've certainly gone down to a rain of fire with Molotovs.

the 2nd clip was just a grenade. slap on some anti-explosives chest armor.

the first clip though, yeah sometimes raiders all have grenades. its rare but this happens to me too. its just something you learn to counter. and by that i mean take cover and run when they start lobbing them

I actually like it. I got so used to the horrible AI in previous Fallout games its nice to see them actually take cover and use grenades more often.

I briefly tried playing FO3...shooting grenades in flight.
Wrong game!

My counter for Mr. Grenade Man is to get real, real close to him. This tends to keep the grenades in the bandolier. Then I introduce him to Double Barrelled Shotgun.

Looks like maybe the grenades they dropped when the nuke car exploded ignited.

you can shot grenades out of the air , aim for arms , cant throw if they don't have arms , its really easy , get decent armor and you wont take to much damage from nades .

Never had an issue with raiders, but once a super mutant really spammed like 5 molotov at once. I was seeing his arm moving so fast because he was spamming the throw like mad LOL.

I think its nice, its was frankly to easy in 3 and NV to just be a cover hugger. This, way you actually have to be alert and be ready to move around the battlefield.

It was an unexpected surprise for me.
First walk out if sanctuary, see three raiders. PFFF, cakewalk. Until they saw past my sneak and started shooting. Thought I had it pretty well worked out hiding behind a rock wall until a Molotov hit me on both sides.

I also had a raider throw two frags at me really quick, but her mistake was lobbing them up stairs and chasing me. Ran right into her own blast.

I love it too!

Met some muty throwing grenades for about 5 minutes in a small hallway. I was hiding at the one end, he guarded the other. Thrilling fight with the rain of grenades and all.

Aww, did cuddles want to play with the "nice" bad guys instead of the mean ones :mohawk:

I personally like that the AI is semi-competent at using cover, grenades, crossfire, flanking, coordinated group actions. But then I play on Easy and they keep me on my toes. It seems like it would be too hard to enjoy on Hard difficulty right out of the box. Dial down the difficulty all the way, give yourself a couple dozen hours of experience and then, dial it back up.

Yeah, I was working my way through a raider hide-out last night, and there was one raider left in a room at the top of the stairs, and she just kept throwing grenades out, one after another. That's what I would call grenade spam. After about a dozen, I figured she was never going to run out, so I just had to run in and get close to finish it.

Sometimes the unlimited ammo that enemies have creates screwy situations.

There's a unique Super Mutant called Hammer. He's armed with a rocket launcher and about 100 grenades and has pinpoint accuracy.

Word. And I feel like the collision on the fire is off. Like, I'll be behind pretty substantial cover, protected from the blast radius, but still take considerable burning damage.

I made my way over to Dunwich and the grenade spam was insane. Not only that, their aim was almost magical, guys who were several stories below and completely across quarry were able to perfectly land a grenade on me.
