Then I am glad that the community, and at least partially the devs, disagree. Especially since FWE wasn't 'masochistic'. At least not by any reasonable definition of the word.

Eh, I'd like them to be scarce. It is a post apocalyptic wasteland RPG. I'd like for there to be some challenge and not have it just be a borderlands shooter.

Playing Fallout 3 recently ive realized how I just don't think to use any of my explosives at all. I used to sell them all to get caps, but now I just chuck the extras into the ammo locker and keep 10 in my inventory as the standard loadout. The result is now that ive got 100+ mines and 100+ grenades kicking around in there.

Maybe I should try out the grenade hotkey mod for Fallout 3 since its going to come standard as Fallout 4. It seems like a good feature, having the grenades right on hand instead of inside your inventory in some seperate brain compartment.

FO3/FNV was full of grenades, you could sell 90% of what you found and still have enough. But I do understand your point.

And I agree, having grenades themselves be strong and scarce.

I would love to have homemade explosives be a thing as well like Molotov's, powder charges, Nuka grenades :D

That's true but the difference is how Explosives was a combat skill that the developers expected the players to use as a primary means of dealing with Wasteland bad guys. So I think that's why they put a lot of them in FO3/NV :P

They could probably tone the amount down in the next one.

Just reread your OP and I fail to see how ANYONE would not assume it was negative. Sorry if that was not your intention.

Oh my! What a disaster! Good First person controls in a (50% of the time) first person game! Oh my! Call the cops! Get a warrant out for Tod's arrest right now! Hell, we may need to set Dog the Bounty Hunter on him....

So this is a bad thing?
FO3 and NV had grenades scattered all over but they're hardly of any use.
You had to invest points into Explosives and dedicate actual perk slots (not to mention the whole Nuka Grenade thing) for puny splash damage and crap accuracy?

I'd rather have grenades rare but actually save my butt when a wave of raiders has the upper hand.

As someone who plays with a grenade hotkey in TTW I find that i use grenades a lot more often when I have a hotkey then when I do not.

grenades are quite situational and in the fast-paced heat of combat you really don't want to take the time to take a time out of the fun to open your pipboy and equip 'nades, throw a few, then reequip your previous weapon. Much better to have access to them whenever you need them without even having to look away from the enemy. They become a lot more useful that way.

Worse, far worse, who two games does fallout 3 feel most like? is it Oblivion and Skyirm?

Stop the press magic confirmed in Fallout 4.

FPS controls in general, really. just because it shares a general control scheme doesn't mean it's gonna be a bad game. it's much better, in my opinion, than having to stop the action to go to your pip-boy and get out your grenade, throw it, then go back to your pip-boy to get out your weapon.

quick edit, sorry if your op wasn't a complaint. like most people i assumed the worst. :/

Never had a mod that allows hot keys. How does it deal with the variety of grenades? Do you assign plasma or frag or whatever?

I can't talk for whatever other mods may add a grenade hotkey, but in Project Nevada it works with G and H. G throwing the grenade (obviously), with H cycling through different grenades (short press) and H also selecting between things likes mines and satchel charges (long press). It also adds a little UI next to the ammo bar that shows what type you have hotkeyed and how many you have.

Works pretty well, really. I rarely use anything but frag though, simply because of the abundance.

Not sure. It'll probably be one of the bumpers like it usually is in games.

I welcome this. This in no way hinders roleplay. It's a fluid mechanic that makes sense. In real do you think a soldier slings his weapon over his back or holsters his pistol to remove a grenade? No, they pluck them off their belt and throw it, weapon in hand. People griping are just afraid of change. I applaud Bethesda for trying to move towards helping RPers AND FPS mechanics. I learned long ago this fanbase and the TES fanbase are disgustingly unpleasable, so you may as well try and find a middle ground that hits and misses for everyone.

No, you see trying to hit a middle ground is WORSE! Then you'll just be catering to most people instead of the true fans. Why won't Bethesda think of the True Fans like us [Insert Genre Fandom Here]?

Because True Fans don't matter. If they're as true as they claim, they'll buy it regardless of what we throw their way.

Well that's just stupid. Everyone knows that anyone calling themselves a True Fan is only giving themselves that moniker to try and make their opinions seem more valid.

The term "hardcoe" is also commonly used.
