Greybeards

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 6:01 am

I've been reading through on the 'greybeards' and I've been thinking about a really cool addition. They are ancient and live in absolute silence right? And chances are pretty high they will play somekind of part in Skyrim.
How about adding Christopher Lee to the cast? Him voicing one of the greybeards, it would fit in my opinion. His distinctive voice makes for a realistic sounding greybeard.

Of course this probably isn't happening, we already have Max von Sydow, which is a great thing.

Greybeards are confirmed to play a part in the main quest, probably a pretty important part too.

I just imagine some actor voicing one of them to really have that 'ancient' kind of sound, like Christopher Lee. At least, it would be cool having a rememberable voice for a greybeard.

If they live in silence...why do we need voice actors? lol

Because they do talk on occassion, it's just that they tend to disintegrate people when they do. Powerful voices they got.

Exactly. I guess they only talk when needed and only to people they feel that can make a change.

Don't forget only to people who can actually withstand their voices, like Tiber Septim. Otherwise, you get shown the exit... by being swept out with a broom.

Christopher Lee would be a great voice actor, but something tells me Bethesda's moved past that point in time and onto polish, polish, polish.

True, but I expect the protoganist to be able to withstand their voices, since he is dragonborn.

Yup, I'm wondering if there are more famous voice actors part of the project, that we did not hear of.

Christopher Lee adds a degree of awesome to anything he is involved with.
Id love to see him do some work for Elder Scrolls.

Its a shame he (Lee) didnt get to do the last part of Return of the King, where Saruman takes control of the Shire. In that last part of the book, Sarumans voice was the only tool he used in enslaving the entire land. And Lee's voice would definitely do it justice.

I hope the Greybeards gets some truly aweinspiring voices. The sort of which leaves you blown away (pun intended).

Didn't he die? Or was that something they changed in the movies?

In the books he was set free after the Ents took over control of Orthanc (his tower). Gandalf assumed he no longer was a threat to anyone after his powers had been stripped and he let him go.

Saruman sent to the Shire and used the power of his voice to enslave everyone there. When Frodo & Co came back they struggled to break his hold of the land, but managed to kill him after a while.

I actually thought of this too. Like the Greybeards have these disciples that translate for you, maybe while you are still weak/in training. later when you are strong enough maybe they'll start speaking to you directly :)
