Grid snapping pains

Hi all.

I'm building a worldspace for the fun of it, practice and whatnot. My issue is that construction could go a lot faster if I could snap buildings and roads directly onto the ground without putting it on "snap on grid" getting it close as possible, snap it off the grid and tweak it myself until it matches with the level ground. I haven't messed with landscape editing (for some reason it doesn't want to do anything but paint textures) so it should snap directly onto the ground, right? Should I change the height of the world by .01 until I get the right height (it's on -10,000 right now) or did bethesda make it so that I have to mess with each object every time I place one in game?

Help is appreciated :D

Hey, I only have a second, but this can be somewhat solved easily. Place one object at the appropriate height, then hold Shift+Q and click on it. Now it will be the Snap-Reference and things snap according to it. Then they will all be the same height, so no more tweaking each one.
