Yah, Ive tried both, neither is working. I suppose i could try again.

And as to the comment about EA, i havent had any trouble with their system. Its fairly low-key, and has never been an issue for me, unlike Steam. This is only my first month using Steam and ive had numerous issues. It gets unbearable after a while.

Servers too busy for me as well, and only when trying to play new vegas. Tried everything on the steam support website to no avail.

They could at least give us an announcement or something that they realize there is a problem and are working on it.

I never realized 'till now that I needed to be online to play NV. IMO this really illustrates the problem with always-online-drm crap, sometimes the internet will be down and people won't have access to a single player game they paid for. Lame.

No problem I will play others non-steam games until the problem is solved,

Now, on a serious note, This just happenned today, but everyone comes here and talk like if this was a problem that wasn solved in days, cmon guys, have patience, you are overreacting

Again.

I don't think it's over-reaction to be miffed at the fact that I can't play a game I already paid for without getting permission first.

I refuse to Pirate anything, but every time I run into one of these inane DRM issues I become a little less vocal with others about how they shouldn't Pirate things.
I've run into this kind of problem with other Company's games as well and at this point I simply won't tell anyone not to Pirate a game anymore...those with Pirated copies are out there playing with no problem, so more power to them.

And it's hardly overreacting considering this is a single player game that we paid for.

If this always online drm continues they need to put warnings(before you buy) to the effect that you will always need an internet connection to play your single player game. Which svcks when errors like this pop up, or internet is down.

What these companies don't realize with this DRM [censored] is that they're only making it difficult for the honest people who support their games.

NOTICE: Game Server Downtime

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From August 22nd to September 8th, European game servers hosted by Valve (L4D/L4D2/TF/on Xbox and PC) will be offline.

The downtime will only pertain to official Valve servers, leaving the availability of independent clan servers unaffected. Additionally, it will be possible to join official Valve servers from other parts of the world; however, there may be increased latency during this time.

CRAP:(

Ouch. Maybe this has something to do with why new vegas is "too busy" for anyone to play it?

Yeah, exactly. Had we all pirated the game we would be playing right now completely unaware that there was an issue. Does getting Trophies (which really don't do anything of any measurable worth anyway) make up for having to deal with an idiotic DRM?

You know, I love Steam for the most part and really this isn't a Steam issue (well, the server part is), this is a Bethesda failure. They are the ones that decided to go with a draconic DRM at the expense of their paying customers.

It took all of a day for a hacked version of this game to show up so really the DRM didn't stop anyone from pirating the game it's ONLY giving the big FU to the paying customers. And more and more game companies are going the same route. How sad that they treat their loyal followers so poorly.

This shouldn't have anything to do with it, it's referring to servers for their games (TF2, L4D) located in Europe.

Way to go Bethesda! You've now put yourself in the same category as Ubi and EA, that being game companies who will never get another [censored] dime of my cash.

Its not Bethesda fault neither Steam Fault, and this not either treating the "loyal" followers poorly, they have their problems too, nobody is perfect, and using piracy as an argument is not helping you either

Normally i'd agree with that, but when you get a long deserved day off then cant use it how you planned you get a little upset, like if you spent a month planning a picnic just to have it rain. I'm okay with waiting, as long as it is only 2 or 3 hours, if it lasts all day then i'm going to be a little ticked off, but not at steam, i'll be upset at the situation. I definitely wont stop buying steam games though, especially if Skyrim is for steam.

I agree. I, too, was looking forward to spending my day off playing some New Vegas, Then this garbage. And steam offers no support line, and there E-mail is garbage. I have waited all day and no response. Even WoW support is usually responding in an hour. Lame.

Then why would it be just New Vegas that does not work? All my other games work fine.

Bethesda didn't make the game require steam to start? This is DRM. Draconian DRM is the reason I don't buy EA or Ubisoft. I thought Bethesda was better than that. I clearly thought wrong.

How is NOT Bethesdas fault? Did they not decide to go with a completely unafilliated party to verify there game? You know what would have worked swell? Just putting my game on a disc, letting me install it, and play it on my freaking PC anytime I want. So, If you don't have internet, you cannot play fallout at all? Really limiting there market also. Not to mention its a SINGLE player game. So, Why cant I play it offline anyway? This is screwed up on Be thesda's part.

I'm able to start it in offline mode with FOMM. Good thing I preordered this game so I don't have all those problems the pirates are having right now. Wait... nobody who pirated this game even knows there's an issue.

Do you preffer another sistem? dont tell me the Godawful Windows Live, that was just annoying

Steam problems right now are the servers, who are "busy", EA and Ubisoft problem are more like, "You need DRM in order to play this game, and if you do something that is against our "rules" then say goodbye to your rights to play this game"

Steam servers will be alright for tomorrow, EA and Ubisoft however, is not the server who has problem, but their mandatory DRM and their unfair rules

Who's using it as an argument? It's starting to look pretty [censored] attractive given the circumstances.

How about no system at all? You should not need an online server to play a freaking single player game.
